George Allwyn has written a BRILLIANT post about LGBT fiction and the five things he thinks it NEEDS.

Really, really excellent post. *applause for George*  - do please share this around.

I’m actually really enjoying my new eating regime. Today: Breakfast-Optivita cereal with semi-skimmed milk. Tea. Lunch: Very low fat veg soup, organic brown crusty bread, two pilchards and salad. two apples. Dinner will be homemade chicken curry with basmati rice, and fruit to make up the five a day. Lovin’ it! Take that, cholesterol!

Recent sinful post aside (ahem!) it really is surprisingly easy to eat healthily, isn't it? I was really shocked when I started this dieting business how little extra work it actually meant to make sure half the plate was filled with salad or vegetables and then see how much of the other food there was room for instead of filling it up with other food and then seeing how much salad there was room for. My meals are way more varied now than they were a month ago.

Shame you can't read danish, then I'd have had an awesome recipe website for you. :)

It's always been laziness with me. I knew EXACTLY waht I had to do, and how to do it (which annoyed me no end when i was shoved a diet sheet by nurses from time to time, being the only thing they were willing to do. This always struck me as very unfair, as if i was a smoker, they'd all fall over eachother to put me on regimes, send me on counselling courses blah blah blah.) But although I knew all the stuff, I never did it.

I'm concentrating on "things I like" at the moment, and building up the store cupboard on a weekly basis, as I had absolutely nothing in them, and it takes time to buy all the odds and ends one needs, rather than being slavish to it. But I'm not eating pastry, or butter which is a huge step forward and I really don't miss them, because they encourage you to have "large portions" of good carbs, which is great!

Danish??? that's those wicked cakies and the bacon, i know that much....oh and Elephant beer. I loved Elephant beer.

I meant danish as a language!

I was pretty lazy about it too. I'd buy these frozen fried meatball things (frikadeller) and some oven chips and just stick that in the oven. Anything I could just stick in teh oven and walk away from until it was done, really.

But now I've learned that cutting up enough salad for one meal only takes five minutes. And soups are awesome and easy to make. :D

What's a pilchard?

Otherwise, sounds like a nummy regime.

(Today I have half a salmon fillet and giant broccoli stems for lunch, as well as some Concord grapes and nectarines. Mmmmm.)

Pilchards are large sardines, the ones I like are tinned in tomato sauce. Sadly the Snucius like them too. I love fresh (or rather frozen) sardines, but the ones you get here just aren't as nice as the ones you'd get in Spain.

it's a very cheap menu, I have to say - i'm spending about £25 a week! Of course the catfood and wine bumps the prices up...
