(written originally at 11am) Lili absolutely refused to eat this morning, dashing my hopes that yesterday evening was an improving sign. It’s obvious that she’s hungry – she came trotting downstairs at the rattle of the food dishes, but obviously the smell of the food is either putting her off or something . So unless she eats when I get back from dad’s this afternoon, it’s back to the vets for  their afternoon surgery. eta: she’s still clearly hungry but won’t eat, so I’m off to the vet now.

I’ve decided to step down from the Directorship of the Erotic Authors’ Association. Many reasons for this, health being a major consideration, and Caring for Dad on a 35 hour a week basis, plus writing, editing, promoting etc – but mostly because I don’t consider myself to be an author of erotic works any more. Granted Standish and Transgressions had a lot of sex in them, but I wouldn’t call them works of erotica. I think that (YMMV) erotica needs to be the main driving force and the main dynamic in erotic work, and I am now more interested in telling stories—and if the characters end up having sex, then that’s part of the plot and I notice that my sex scenes are becoming rarer and less graphic.

I’ve let the EAA know (those of them who are on the chat list, at least) and posted on the LJ community. I’ll post on the Blogspot later – and keep the offer of the new Directorship open for a few weeks, and if no-one picks it up, then it will just have to go into mothballs. It’s a shame because I really wanted to do a lot more with it, reinstate the awards, have reviews, more articles etc. But there’s not really room for two erotic organisations in the genre, and the Erotic Readers and Writers Association does a sterling job—and they have an active and myriad workforce, whereas there’s a limited amount one person can do on their own. National Coming Out Day in the USA today (UK Tomorrow) so participate! Come out! Be an ally! Go to the Human Rights site and do something positive.

OK – writing now. I’ve slipped behind again, what with Lili’s problems this weekend. Onwards and upwards! This year has turned out to be a right bastard, one of the worst I’ve known- I won’t be sad to see it go.

Lunch today. Cheese, onion and tomato omelette and yogurts. nom.

I can't even begin to think about taking the job, but I do want to thank you for what you've done with it: it's a ton of work without a lot in the way of gratitude/acknowledgment and you've done a great job. Your plate is exceptionally full, esp. with your Dad, and I think it is good that you are making this change in order to take care of you so you can take care of others and your writing.

I'm sorry to hear Lili is feeling poorly. Both my cats are geriatric at this point and every time they eat well (or successfully pass it out the other end...) is a victory. Trying to keep up with your dad AND your own writing must be a handful already.

I'm sorry to hear you're stepping down, but it's quite understandable, so let me just say thank you for all you've done! I do still feel there's a need for the EAA. ERWA isn't a writers organization in the same sense as HWA, SFWA, RWA, and there is still a need. But I know I sure as heck don't have the time to pick up that flag (*eyes two books under contract that are late*) and I laud you for carrying it as long as you did.
