I have forgotten the power lead for the laptop. BaritoneJeff, you said this would happen. I really should have treated myself to a second one. 

And I have a short story to expand today, and the sound file of Hard and Fast to listen to and correct. Thank god for English Time vs American Time, at least I have five hours grace and can get it over to them by American lunchtime by the time I get home!

Lesson learned. Will see how much it will cost to get a second. Then find somewhere REALLY good to hide it at Dad’s.

It is also very hard to write a sex scene with Dad yammering on.

Once you get a spare, instead of leaving it at your Dad's (and risking him hiding it), perhaps you could leave it in your car. That way, it would be easily accessible when you're at your Dad's or anywhere else you go by car.

I can't write anything with someone else in the room - no radio or music either. I have huge respect for people who can write a sex scene while listening to radio 4 and talking to a husband, knocking off occasionally to stir the dinner.

Mental discipline - I hasn't it.

Leaving the spare cable in the car is a jolly good idea.
