I won a £14 gift certificate from Erotica Readers and Writers Association for submitting "Ripped" to them. Was only a tiny converted drabble so a good rate of exchange!

The sky rips. Rain, large as bees, warm as skin, drenches them in seconds. Paul kisses the pale face, tangling his fingers into the hair that, in the rain, goes as dark as his eyes.

It's new, this. Who would have guessed that kissing his best friend would taste like honey and home? New, but he hopes it's not just a flash in the pan. Not just a summer storm.

In the strobe light night, white shirts cling, like arms; tighter than embraces and still they kiss, their mouths fill with water and drown the words they can't yet express.

So I've ordered :

1. The Lion in Winter DVD
2. Soundtrack to Barry Lyndon CD
3. Edge of Seventeen DVD

Slashy goodness.

Today I'm going to work on some short stories for the anthologies that are due soon. Then I need to go and buy two cat bowls and two cat baskets! squee! I've just realised that "Piglet" is a great contender for the Cats that Look like Hitler site!

Good words have no monetary equivalent, but it's a nice payoff! Especially considering what you've invested in. "The Lion in Winter" *so* brims with the snark! I only vaguely recall the film, but I read the screenplay, and it's mighty yum. Cruel, but yum.
Awww, poor Piglet of notoriety! :)

I bet as soon as it arrives it is shown on the TV but it hasn't been on for years, and I've only seen it once, that I remember, when I was a kid.

Can't wait!

And bwahahaha! Poor Piglet.

Ah bah, to have and to hold! The characters really flay each other in style :) It plays in Chinon, doesn't it? I want to go there so badly; Jeanne d'Arc stayed there as well, and Cesare Borgia made his first entry to the international scene at Chinon, in a rather ostentatious display.

I've never been in, but we went past it in the coach on a school trip to the Loire Valley. I forget where we were on our way to at the time...

The Lion in Winter was one of the first DVDs I hunted down when I started buying the things. I absolutely adore it - bits like all the boys hiding behind the bed curtains as each of them in turn, followed by Dad, tries to seduce Philip over their side; Henry shouting at Eleanor "Pay attention, I'm reviling you!"; I still always giggle a little at Dr Watson Nigel Stock as William Marshal. And all the snark!!!

I don't remember ANYTHING about it, just that it was great, and that 40 years later I still remember it as a film, and that Hepburn must have been brill.

Can't wait to see it again!

I'll send some toys down. Somewhere mother has her own home-grown catnip bags amongst other things. I'll send a Piglet and Pop care package!! I love Piglet already!

I love the Lion in Winter, historically accurate or not. (You mean the Hepburn/O'Toole one, right? I've never seen the newer one with Patrick Stewart and - I think - Glenn Close.)

Yes, submit a picture of Piglet! You're so right about his moustache! Hee hee. Kitlers!

Submitted! I'll have to wait and see now.

*laden down with cat toys they'll never play with and beds they'll never sleep in*

Oh, you never know. *g* Sophie plays with cat toys. And both of my cats sleep in their beds. They prefer the red one, for some reason. It makes no sense, since the blue one is just as nice. But this morning Sophie shoved Will out of the red one, and took his place. She's such a bully!

and yes, very much the original version! I had no idea it had a slashy subtext (let's be fair, I was eight when I saw it)

Subtext? I'd say the Richard/Philip stuff is pretty blatant. *g* (Though there are some who say that Philip preferred Geoffrey. I don't blame him; I love John Castle in this film.)

Alas, poor Piglet. XD
