I had been unable to share this before now, but have been given the green light today.

Harlequin have an anthology of erotic wedding stories coming out (not quite sure when) and one of my stories is in it!!!

Isn’t that pretty?

Of course, I know what you are thinking – Erastes wrote het erotica?  OF COURSE NOT!!! The exciting news about this anthology is that it contains at least one gay marriage story- mine!  I’m not sure if there are others, Alison Tyler (who is the editor and who I’ve worked with before at Cleis) will be posting the list of participants later in the week.

But… *points* – HARLEQUIN!  This can only be good news.

More news when I have it.

Congratulations!

And kudos to Harlequin for including a gay-marriage story in an otherwise het collection!

That's excellent news. Congrats on getting a story in their antho, and yay that Harlequin is easing in there. I see it's their Spice line and not Carina.

I'm having dinner with Carina's EiC Angela James next week (through someone else--she wouldn't know me from Adam... or Steve), and I will be sure to mention this and see if it bodes well for things to come.

Wow! Dinner with Selebs, I'm impressed! I've got a novella with Carina coming next Spring too, so it's all got tobe good.

It's not my doing. One of her Samhain/Carina authors is in my RWA group and Harlequin's HO is in Toronto so a couple of times a year Angela asks Leah to set up a dinner. I'm not sure why I get invited. Leah seems to like me. 8-D

I saw that about your Carina novel. We've come a long way, eh?

It's true - when I look back at when I was writing Standish and there was NOTHING out there and no-one was publishing it - and now look at the genre. It's miraculous.

Congrats! It's awesome to see Harlequin actually including GLBT relationships in its (paperback?) books, even if it's not part of any of the established category lines. :D

Well, it's the Spice line, I think, and the second antho that Alison has done, so it's good. I am (and have been for years) convinced that eventually they will start up a paper line.

I'm convinced they should, and of course they will eventually. Whether they'd be able to do it within the next year or three and have more luck than Running Press did getting the bookstores to actually shelve the books in the Romance section is another discussion. Although Harlequin has a lot more power than Running Press, so if anyone can pull it off, it'd be them.

Yeah, if anyone has the power to influence what bookstores include in their Romance sections, it's Harlequin.

That is really awesome! I was wondering when HQN started publishing GLBTP. I wish they would expand their relationship bandwidth a little more. Maybe this means they will.
Cool!

HUZZAH!

I'm glad that it's your story in this groundbreaker. You've been busting your ass and working yourself crosseyed for the genre - literally! Hope this is the first of many.

Thank you dear! I really must put some effort in and do some more short stories, I do enjoy doing them, but theres still that divide in shorts - that it's either erotica or literary.

From: [identity profile] lee-rowan.livejournal.com
Well, if there were no divide in shorts, they'd be a miniskirt.

Thank you dear!I have to say that I must thank the editor, Alison Tyler for this - she's worked with me before and she put out the private call, and invited me. She couldn't say for certain that HQN would accept a gay story but she was adamant that she was going to present all kinds of marriage, and fair play to her.
