Muffled Drum by Erastes is wonderfully written character driven novel with a unique and fascinating story line. Mathias and Rudolph are vibrant protagonists who are three dimensional and immensely appealing. If you are fan of historical romances about a love so strong it defies insurmountable odds then you are going to love Muffled Drum.

Which is wonderful for day one. I am happy

I sat up all night reading; I simply couldn't put the book down. How could I? Once Mathias had gone to deliver his resignation I knew I was sold. You are the reason I have no nails today; they are all bitten down to the quick. I seldom cry when I read but at times I couldn't help myself. When I finally turned off the light and went to sleep at three in the morning, I was all wrung out and extremely satisfied. And now I feel like I do when I eat cake; I gobble it down far to fast and then my plate is empty. Can I have more please?
