[livejournal.com profile] aunty_marion posted this earlier and I wanted to share it around

An article in today's Times reports that the Black Mountains Smokery, a sausage manufacturer in Wales, will have to rename their sausages, because the current labelling is misleading.

The "Welsh Dragon" sausages will now be renamed "Welsh Dragon Pork Sausages", to avoid confusion among customers. Trading standards have warned the manufacturers they could face prosecution, as the sausages do not contain any dragon meat. A spokesman for the company said: "I don't think any of our customers believe that we use dragon meat in our sausages."

David and I are exchanging glances of disbelief. We can understand the need to specify that they're _pork_; these days you can get turkey sausages, or beef... but sheesh.

Get a grip, people!

Insane. If I were the company I'd just be laughing.

In fact I'd put "May contain dragon" on the packet just to be irritating.

I think they had to put a disclaimer on the packets of Hedgehog Crisps: "These crisps contain no hedgehogs!" (or something similar. Maybe it was "no hedgehogs were harmed/used during the making of these crisps....")
