TCM Reviews rejected me!

Well that's charming.

I sent them Standish to review.

Their website states: 'TCM Reviews for Book, Ebook, Audio Book, and Braille Reviews in Every Genre' your work will be assigned to a reviewer that enjoys and specializes in that particular genre and publication format

And this morning I got an email: "Sorry, couldn't find a reviewer for this."

CHARMING! Every genre except gay historical romance, apparently!!!

Oh, that sucks. What, someone couldn't just give it a go? Sheesh.

You're not missing out on much. They reviewed My Brother, Coyote (which was gay and lots of sex), but the review was decidedly WTF. It read like a kids book report eveyone I showed it to said "but where's the review?" I think they maybe just short of people who can actually reivew and it's not the material itself.

Pathetic really. They shouldn't say 'every genre' unless they mean it.

*hates*

I don't understand such things... "really" they didn't find anyone who want to read and review a book? I know it is a particular genre, I know it is a delicate matter, but we are in the XXI century!!! Why we have to do things (because I'm sure there are thousand of people, perhaps millions, which read gay romance) and not admit to do that? I have some customers in my store who ask me to hide the erotic titles, but they don't ask me not to sell them. For answer, I put them on window!

It's probably not specifically because of Teh Gay, because they've reviewed two of mine. And one of those was the anthology with three m/m novellas by me, Ally Blue and Emily Veinglory. Fairly sane reviews, by two different people as far as I can tell:

http://tcm-ca.com/reviews/764.html

Maybe it's the combination of historical and gay?

I see an opportunity!
*applies to be a reviewer of homoerotic works*

To me it doesn't read like they aren't willing to review, only that they don't have any reviewers comfortable doing so.

I don't know that I honestly have the time to be doing reviews right now, but it certainly is worth it for someone who does enjoy homoerotic works to apply for a reviewer position! =D

Or, after reading the comments on this entry, they just didn't have someone available?

:( I am sorry sweetie. I am going to buy your book on my next Amazon order. Knowing how you write I know I am going to love it. I love any kind of historical novel...why the hell they can't find someone to read it is beyond me.

I'm job-hunting ... what a pity I suck at writing book reviews!

Wonder if I could get a job working for TCM Reviews? At least then there would be one reviewer willing to review gay historicals.
