Spotted this - no remuneration, but could be a fun way to flex your GRRM "not quite fanfic drabble" muscles:

FantasyBookSpot.com and its affiliates are all about supplying information to you, the fans. Regardless if that is through author interviews, topical articles, undercover work at conventions, or reviews, we strive to submit the best on our quest to be the best. With that being said, we have come to understand that without a reader, articles are meaningless; without interest from fans, conventions would fail to materialize; without consumers, authors would fail to get additional book deals; but most of all, without you, sites like FantasyBookSpot.com would fail. Period.

Therefore, we felt it was time for a new kind of contest where simply submitting an entry will not suffice. Victory is thrown squarely on the first two knuckles – excluding the thumb – of your dominant typing/writing hand. It is your turn to step through the simply decorated archway leading to the coliseum and battle, word-for-word, against foes who seek something similar to yourself…immortal glory and prizes! The path will not be easy, so make sure to focus your thoughts, tackle your demons, and be ready to feed off the competition like a half-baked pop-princess suckling off the popularity of decade old ballads.

The contest will commence on April 10th, 2007 and conclude on April 23rd,2007. Contestants will be given fifty-five (55) words or less to write an abbreviated review of the title in question. It is perfectly acceptable for an entrant to get their point across by using less than fifty-five words. If any entrant goes over the fifty-five word limit, they will be disqualified.

There are two limitations: your imagination and the fifty-five (55) word limit. Feel free to add comedic twists or dramatic details. Any FantasyBookSpot.com member may participate. Entrants will have the ability to submit multiple entries, but only their most recent submission will be accepted. After the deadline has passed, a panel will collect all of the submissions and declare a victor. There will be an odd number of panel members, which therefore means that a tie is not possible. The victor will receive a book that is to be named later and their review will be immortalized on a FantasyBookSpot.com node.

For the first title, we thought we would play off our recently concluded "2006 Best of All-Time Tournament" by selecting A Game of Thrones by George R. R. Martin.

If you have any questions that I failed to answer, you can either PM me, e-mail me at patrick@fantasybookspot.com, or post here. As questions arise, I will place them in the above vitals so future contests can hopefully be more streamlined.
