This is the picture of Lucifer in the Lucifer spin off from Sandman that I talked of a few days ago;

Two things.

1. This proves to me that he has a decadent decendant living in Wiltshire. (or more accurately banged up in Azkaban) and

2. His expression is SO bloody wonderful. Now I know what people mean when they say that they could hardly bear someone to look at them, but that they would die if he looked away. With this man, I'd be on the floor squirming with love, but part of me,  deep down, would be wishing that he hadn't noticed me... It's like.... he's just noticed you, and he's wondering if you are going to be any fun.  And you just know that it's not going to be in good way.  Or not at the end, at least.

Whatever. I'm in LOVE.

And the serpents! Yes, I do think you're right about his descendant--and quite a recent one. I think Lucius's mother had a bit of fun--and Lucius's father didn't dare call her on it.

That's a good point. He wanted an heir, and he got a blond perfect boy, and he's always... wondered

About that white feather she kept in her drawer...

But she died in childbirth (in my head, so that works too...)

I was thinking that he didn't call her on it because who in their right mind would tangle with her lover.

But you're right. He got the perfect heir, so why look too closely into how he got his heir. It's rather like in Renault's Fire from Heaven. No one was really certain that Alexander was King Philip's son, but since they couldn't have asked for a better heir to the throne if they'd sent out to central casting, why question it?

There's more of them, actually, they are all curled around his waist, and he's standing in James Bond pose with a martini glass, complete with olive, but I did a close up because I wanted to really show that expression, which just keels me.

I could stare at that for Ever.

It was a promo poster that was sent to comic book stores when the series started. The owner of the shop knew I was a Sandman reader during the time the issues where first coming out and he gave it to me....

you might find it on ebay...

The poster is this pic! I just went to look at it. I have it hanging inside my pantry door. He is holding a martini.

and it says above it that Lucifer is back and this time he is playing God.

lol.. This was the cover from Issue one of the comic if I am remembering right and that is a problem...the wing color?

I am going to make an icon...

They're gold, darling. It's like yellow but classier.

(Or they could just be stained by all the sulfur in the air in hell. Such a bother that. The one real way to wash the sulfur out is the blood of virgins, and then one must accept a pink tinge.)

*laughs*

Gold is better.

Talking of blood of virgins, Luciuscat just came in with blood all over him.

It wasn't HIS. Can he be any more like his namesake? Severus washed it off for him.

I wonder what they'd have been like if I'd called them Tiddles and Fluffy?

Lucifer is a delightful thing, is he not? And the series is very good - he is pretty much the perfect sarcastic bastard gentleman. Right until the end. :)

He's amazing - in that poster, anyway. When I'm done with Sandman, I'll certainly try those books out.

I'm just happy to see someone portraying him as beautiful for a nice change.

Mmmm. There's something rather Peter O'Toole-ish about him - especially his mouth and chin. Yum.

Yes - you have a point, there, there's section in Lawrence of Arabia where he stares at people and he's so compelling!

When I was writing my paper, I ran across a quote from Gaiman saying his initial conception of Lucifer was a young David Bowie, and it's eerie how well that fits with Preludes and Nocturnes.

And the Lucifer spinoff is great fun. I've read it from the library, but I need to acquire it on my own...after I finish buying Sandman.

Yes, the Lucifer in P&N is VERY Ziggy, I noticed that straight away. But then I did think he was the most beautiful man in the world then , too. Sigh.

I really do love his Lucifer. He's just as gorgeous in 'Murder Mysteries', which fits into the mythos very well, albeit indirectly.

By the way, I'm probably displaying a great deal of ignorance, but speaking of lovely, who is that in your icon?

I shall look out for that, then - I'm such a newbie to graphic novels!

It's Bjorn Andresen - he played Tadzio in Death In Venice

ciao

after reading your post I took up my original copy of Ziggy Stardust (an old LP I now play few time): the picture aren't gourgeous, what a shame, they are like undefinied...

And for Tazio (in italian is Tazio), everytime I see an adptation of "Morte a Venezia", the boy is always beautiful...

From: [identity profile] erastes.livejournal.com
I really must buy a copy of the film, I really really must, but my version is probably a lot smuttier than the film, I know that Tazio doesn't actually speak once in the real film...

Oh my. Yes. Yes, he really is.

Death in Venice is one I really must read. I've owned a copy for years (admittedly in a box in storage at the moment) and I've read other things by Mann, but I keep missing that one for some reason.

Yes yes yes!! That's exactly it, and I couldn't put it into words! Neither of them are good news for me, but I'm so under his spell I simply wouldn't care...

Right; must buy this (you're going to drive me into the poorhouse, Erastes!) -- is Gaiman listed as the author or is someone else?

No not Gaiman, a collaboration of others

Here's the list - that cover is from No 3.
