Word Tart: Like a pop tart but more literary. I've just used "discombobulation" in a story. Bwahahahahaha!

I've heard back from Kineton Historical Society - seems they don't know the answer to the question about bells either - "There were certainly bells in St Peter's church at that period. The churchwardens' accounts for 1639 include expenditure on 'two new bell ropes' and payment for 'keepinge ye clock, ringing ye bell and mendinge ye diall.' How often ye bell was rung and when we don't know."

So what I'm going to have to do is have my character creep out of the house when it's dark - which would make it about 9pm at that time of year and sod the bloody bells.

*resolution for week* to try and not lose my temper at asshats. Well, it's only Monday....
