Hey - I didn't realise there were gay historicals in the ebook market! However, why doesn't Torquere take Paypal??? How annoying is that...Ho hum. I shall buy "Finding Jason" instead. I've just scanned about 200 ebooks and I can't find any others. If you know of any - let me know huh?

I just bought:

Masque - By Julia Talbot / Sound and Fury - By B. A. Tortuga / Peridot - By Parhelion / Finding Jason - By Lyndi Lamont / Offerings - By Julia Talbot

Will let you know what they are like. Bugger. Now I have to wait and DL them. urk.

And just so you know. The Stallion and the Rabbit? Worst Gay Title Ever.

i think the paypal issue may be an 'adult content' thing -- if paypal believes that you're selling adult material, they seize your account.

True, though. I know of at least two other e-publishers who don't use PayPal for that very reason. The fines for "transactions of adult materials" are steep, steep, steep.

Wish there were more M/M historicals, myself.

But I don't understand - why can ebook sellers like fictionwise then use Paypal? How does Ebay get around it?

And when did books get ratings anyway???

As to how Ebay and Fictionwise get away with using PayPal, I have no idea. It may be simple greed.

As I recall, Ellora's Cave also allows PayPal. I'm afraid I don't know how that works for them either.

Paypal and Ebay are owned by the Mormons - there was a huge clear out of adult authors and artists when Ebay bought Paypal a couple of years ago. Such a load of crap, really, and they seize and freeze accounts on the slightest excuse. Evil, evil people. Pity it's so ubiquitous.

I don't understand it, I've just used paypal to buy all those titles on another site, and I've bought "adult" material on ebay many many times.

I suspect those vendors are flying under the radar. And artists are more vulnerable than authors because they're more visible. Torquere only sell adult material, so they would be hard pressed to get accepted in the first place. Or maybe they just don't like Paypal?

Indeed The Stallion and the Rabbit is a little tale very charming and it is setting at the beginning of the twenty century, I believe.

If in the category of M/M historical you want to put also a late nineteen Japanese Empire, I reccomend you Ghosts by Olivia Lorenz (http://elisa-rolle.livejournal.com/89233.html): it is not a paranormal title, but the story of an opera singer and a samurai now sold to the jakuza. By her I have also Revenant, Samhain Publishing, a paranormal romance setting in the beginning of twenty century in Greece.

I have just reccomended you Finding Jason by Lindy Lamont and Angel's Evolution by T.A. Chase

ciao, elisa

Sorry, I'm spamming your LJ, but I have two other titles by Kiernan Kelly: Two Spirits and In Bear County, setting in the post Indepence War America. In Bear County is a very interesting title, pure historical, Two Spirits have pretty heavy paranormal elements. ciao, elisa

You aren't spamming hun, you are giving me some great titles to choose! I'm not going to download the paranormal one, as I'm trying to stick to pure historical, but thank you - this is turning into a great list - I downloaded loads yesterday and am looking forward to reading them!

not pure historical

but you might like Torquere's "Downtime" by James Allen. It's time travel historical m/m, with one m in present day traveling back to 1888 to fall in love with an m in the past. :D It's very cuddly.

I think time travel is possibly the only paranormal I'll let myself read, so thanks! I'll check that out!

I asked my publisher about the paypal situation, and if the publisher produces a fair amount of work that is not erotic, she claims paypal will play ball. That still doesn't explain Ellora's Cave, however.

Do you know Dale Chase? She's releasing a collection of Victorian-era m/m erotica. I'll let you know when it comes out.
