At last! Someone else other than me, blogging about getting the facts RIGHT in historical fiction - or indeed any fiction

Paid my overdue car tax today, six months overdue to be honest - I was lucky not to have a fine and points on my licence.  I was SURE it was for a year, but it was only six months and expired in January. Urghk.  Anyway, all legal again now and I was lucky to get away with a £40 overdue payment. But Gah I hate driving into Norwich, it's a veritable maze and everything goes one way and you really need to know where you are going and change lane speedily. Verily a 1000 year old city is not built for modern life.  They should pedestrianise the entire centre imho.

First Book asks "which book got you hooked on reading?."  Well, I'm sorry - who are they asking? Cletus?  "Dear Publishers Weekly. I don't know what the name of it was, because it was made of cloth and I was six months old."  Idiots.

My "how will you get banned from LJ" is too dull to post. This is annoying, as everyone else's have been hilarious.

Sod It. I'm bored. I'm going out for alcohol.

Ha ha fooled you. No numbers.

I got hooked on books by reading my big bro's comics - Victor and Hotspur. That must mean something? *g*

Ahh. The Victor and The Hotspur. Happy happy days. I was attempting to explain them to [livejournal.com profile] gehayi the other day - they don't seem to have "girls" and "boys" comics over there, more less specific, superheroes, Archie, MAD, that sort of thing.

Ah. Roy of the Rovers. One of my first major crushes.

Troy Tempest was my very first. Which also says a lot about me I think.

I did like the girl's magazines too, though. I liked Bunty because the girls were always having adventures and weren't always nice. I progressed to Jackie, then after that - to Viz.

I was mad about Alf Tupper and Wilson. *sighs - Wilson*

My youngest daughter used to read any Bunty Annuals I could pick up second hand - we still have to go through the stories. Remember Nurse Nancy? And Jackie - oh, the pinups!

My 'leaving' thing was dull, too.

And I'm the person who was begging round my friends list for information on regency period underclothing recently, so I'm in for the "accurate details" agreement. The entire fic got totally held up until I found out the answer :)

Agh. Underclothing drives me bonkers, specially men's. I think there is ONE definitive book on the subject but for the life of me I can't remember what it's called.
