So. We can't have sex with kiddies any more.
No. *double-takes* HANG ON!!! When did you have sex with kiddies?
Well, it was a rowdy night, and Alberforth got the Firewhisky out…
That's an entirely different problem, and NO. You can't do that EITHER.
Spoilsport.
*flexes wand hand* Well, It has been a bit quiet since Potter got lucky. *coughs* I mean conquered evil.
Don't. Remind. Me. Fancy a bit of mayhem? Bit of… Muggle baiting. I'll let you wear the robes with the pointy hood. I'll even wear the blond pony tail if you are nice.
Well. It depends, dunnit?
What do you mean, it depends?
Well, it's a Brave Noo World, innit? Less in heaven and earth wot is dreamt of in your wossit-thingy, Horatio.
What ARE you on about? And who the hell is Horatio?
They've put the lid on the bad behaviour. No more stories about our… naughty activities. Doesn't mean we can't do naughty stuff, just means that no-one can write it down. AND definitely NO pictures of naughty behaviour.
So no-one will know?
Yep.
What's the bleeding point of that?
It's supposed to protect people.
How?
I don't know. Not encourage them to do it too I 'spose.
Let me get this straight. If someone draw a picture of me walking up to a Muggle and pointing my bit of bent stick at them and saying some stupid mangled Latin – they'll get into trouble?
That's right! Coz other people might COPY you, you see.
*rolls eyes* So if JKR posted on Live Journal she'd be breaking the law.
Yep.
And Tolkein.
Oh, definitely him. Now you see, we have to check first to see what we do ain't going to be offensive or harmful to anyone. *waves list *
Harmful? Then I'm guessing Murder is right out.
Well, obviously. That's never been, like. ALLOWED, has it? It's not like it's a sport.
Well that's spoilt MY evening. Muggle baiting, surely that's not banned?
Well….technically, they aren't Muggles any more, they "Magically Challenged." Can't call 'em Muggles no more. It's offensive.
Who bleedin' cares if the Muggles are offended?
The Muggles, apparently.
Whose great idea was this, anyway?
*rummages in paperwork* Society for Prevention of Offending Other Fellows
*fumes* So – they would be more offended if I called them a Muggle or went round their house and cursed their children?
Hard to say. Both are as bad as each other, you see. You is being racialist. And cursin' - that's not allowed. Some Yank got himself arrested in England for having a Piss on his tee-shirt.
I'm not surprised. How very revolting.
That's not what I meant… Oh never mind.
That Granger Bitch has got something to do with this, hasn't she?
Yeah. I reckon so. And it's lady dog, don't forget.
Only one thing for it then. We'll have to wait for Hallowe'en.
*sniggers * Oh.. Yeah. Right. Trick or Treat!!

Date: 2007-08-14 08:52 pm (UTC)The images get them into huge legal trouble, and sorry, that picture by Ponderosa was definitely a grey area - I'm glad they recognise that too, but any reasonable person could interpret Harry as under 18 in that. They've said that's their hard line.

Date: 2007-08-14 10:21 pm (UTC)Where? They're past masters at not making anything clear. I don't take a whole lot of comfort from the fact that these doubletalking twats haven't gone after fanfic yet.

Date: 2007-08-14 11:05 pm (UTC)I do. Because they will have had thousands of reports - thy've actually said they have - and have not banned anyone on the strength of it. And a piece of underage graphically sexual fanfic was specifically reported to Abuse by the author herself under a sock and it was ruled okay. You are not going to get any company saying that fanfic is explicitly fine because (a) there will always be an exception, and (b) fanfic is in a grey area legally and they can't be seen to be overtly supporting it when it may or may not be a copyright violation. People demanding black and white answers are just not going to get it.
Hey, I don't care. The youngest person in my stories is 20, and I don't write fanfic. I'm not worried anyway, but I don't think the Snarry people need to be either.
