THIS is a prime example of why I dropped out of [livejournal.com profile] hp_britglish

I mean to say, for god's sake.  ICING WANK?

There are no words.

I am also curious as to what they would make of what I would call lemon cupcakes which are topped with lemon icing. These are the main reason I do not physically shop at Sainsburys or Tesco any more.

They are worryingly addictive.

I shall call them lemon-crackcakes.

My friend from Plymouth calls them "fairy cakes" which amuses me no end.

Now you want me to get a pack, tart it up with sprinkles and glitter and mail it off to my gay best friend in Manchester! Preferably on a day he's meeting up with his new beau. Poor man does not know what he's in for!

I have a feeling though that I would die a quick and horrible death if I did so.

Fairy cakes. Hee!

I'm pink, therefore I'm spam.

is proud of being pretentious for eating cake with a fork

IF it's so goddamn pretentious and unBritish, I'd like to know why every place you go that serves cake, serves it with a fork!

I'm a 'fingers at home, fork for company' person myself.

Isn't "icing on the cake" an originally British expression?
Icing sounds prettier than frosting anyway. :)
LOL on the icing wank. The only time I eat cake with my hands is when I'm sneaking a piece out of the fridge at 2 a.m.

I'm going to glomp chocolate buttercream frosting all over my cake, eat the first piece in public with a fork, the second piece in secret with my fingers (less evidence that way), and be unembarassedly American about the whole thing!

And I'll put royal icing on my loverly cookies!

From: [identity profile] erastes.livejournal.com
Yum.

I can't believe you have an icing icon....

People will wank over anything. The knitting comms are full of it! Wanking over dolls, pet fish, you name it.

But this is very very special, I have to admit. In a 'special school' kind of way.

I remember hearing someone say that icon comms were wanky, seems incredible to me.

Haha, that's fun!! I saw the question but couldn't be bothered to read the answers - until just now of course.

I just like reading the questions there but can't be bothered answering, people are too precious about their own habits. I like being different and for the record, I LOVE any kind of cake topping or filling :)

I used to reply a lot, because being Ing-er-lish to the core, I like to HELP and I have a rabid loathing of faucets and graduation and gotten, but every time I did reply, some other Brit would contradict me!

grrrr!

Yes, I had the same experience and gave up. SOme people fail to understand that Britain has a certain diversity to it. Gotten is a big nono for me as is toast and boysenberry jam - whatever that is!!
