Fireworks - grrrr

Apart from the whole "burn the Catholic" theme, I object to Bonfire Night/Weekend because of the pets. First Lili got scared and went (stupidly) to sit upstairs in the bathroom. Idiotic as this is the only room in the house with an open window at the moment and so the banging was louder in there than anywhere else... So she's sitting in there with a frozen face and I have to grab her and cuddle her (she hates this - as she was in a kennel for her formative months and never got used to being handled, but she tolerates it now, at least. After five minutes of her tolerating me, I put her down and she decided that behaving was probably the lesser of two evils or OH NOE mummy might cuddle me again... and wandered downstairs.
Lucius didn't bother going out, and was his normal laid back and elegant self. But Severus sat in the window seat for 10 minutes and watched the neighbours display. Then SUDDENLY for some reason he got scared and went and hid under a chair. As this was the chair on which Lucius and Lili were lolling, I left him to it, not wanting to re-inforce "I'm scared I need cuddles" and after half an hour he came out looking abashed and went to snuggle in the furry orgy on top of the chair.
My dad's dog was inconsolably terrified, however - as are a lot of pets this time of year, and it's not even the fifth yet. Grrrr.
I've done no writing this week. I think it's a case of "Ostrich Syndrome" I've literally got more to do than my mind can cope with so logically..... I do nothing. That makes perfect sense and I am an imbecile. I have a pretty new website made by a good friend and instead of knuckling down and teaching myself Joomla (because argh!!!) I'm sticking my head in the sofa cushions and going La La La! However I have two more days off before I have to go back on the chain gang so perhaps I can spend them productively and not watching films I've seen a billion times before, (or worse, got the DVDs) and playing video games. Although Chase The Express IS a lot of fun on Easy...
