The Golden Compass was incredible. It had the same effect on me as did LOTR's because it was like someone had put my vision on the screen. Even the town where Iorek was drinking himself to death was exactly how I imagined it.  Kerry really enjoyed it, because the film cleverly plays itself down on the Religion must die motif and is just a great spectacle with a smidge of organised religion and a soupcon of hints about dust=puberty=original sin which only really resonated because I knew it was there.  She was horrified at the Intercession (as well she might) and we discussed daemons all the way back to the car.

"What about if you don't have a personality?"
"That could be tricky.  Steve Davis would have problems"
"Eeek, yes."
"Perhaps his daemon would be a glass of water."
*general sniggering*

Then home to Heroes end of season one which was everything it should be, and made me very happy, but of course I'm worrying about Nathan.

However I do have to say - even when Peter realised that it was going to be him blowing up  - why didn't he just think "well, no worries, I'll just go into orbit."

Silly me. That would mean that most of the series would have been scrapped!  And er - HELLO!  Didn't anyone think of cutting Gabriel's head off???? I DID!!!
