it's not often that the BBC impresses me - but they did tonight - the younger edited version of Torchwood 2/1 seems only to be cut for violence, NOT man snoggage, as they left in the very passionate John/Jack snog.  GO BBC! And I take back all my nasty suspicions that I thought they'd leave in the violence and take out the snoggage and the asking of Ianto out on a date.

*beams* and is very proud of her country for once.

And Jack? "I can't die, ever" I'd take that bet.  I bet if someone dropped a nuclear bomb on you that might see you off.

That was explained in the Capt Jack eps of the last Dr Who series: Rose had some special powers via the Tardis and brough him back to life, but she brought him back for ever.

I had more of a problem with the broken spine he must have suffered after John pushed him off the building - how/why did that repair itself? Why isn't he alive, but a paraplegic? But I'm a fully paid up member of the Nitpickers' Guild :)

He does regenerate, after all Suzie put a bullet in his brain, so I just assumed that whatever Rose's anti-Dalek spell did to him he regenerates too. After all eventually he'd just be all shredded and deformed and that wouldn't be sexy at all. In fact they had filmed him putting himself together after the fall, (it was just on Torchwood Extra or whatever they call it) but when they saw the episode, they realised they didn't need it.

I suppose even if you dropped a bomb on him and he went into atoms he'd regenerate even then - it would just take longer.

Be fascinating if he did, if it took him a hundred years, and he came back radioactive, though.

I can just imagine his atoms coalescing back together.

He does regenerate, but he also says he's still aging - ha asked the Doctor to imagine what he would look like at the end of the universe (the Face of Boe moment from last DW season). So obviously his powers of regeneration aren't limitless. I wonder if TPTB have really thought this through ... (and thus fanfic is born).

I wondered about that too. I was thinking about writing a story with a character who is essentially immortal and it seems to me that unless one's body is impervious, there's going to be a way to destroy it.

I suppose it would still happen, but the bits would take longer to regenerate, like zombie bodies dragging themselves together again.

Oh god, I have this image of Zombie!Captain Jack in bits, trying to reassemble himself, but his lips are off trying to snog someone, and he can't find his cock because it's on the prowl.

I'm with you on that - cut the violence, cut the overt sexual references but keep the kissing/flirting. Watched it with my 12 year old and she liked it very much! Also I noticed some subtle work done on music, etc to make it less menacing.

That's the US version? *g*

I think they must have had complaints about the music (I considered it) because it was very intrusive. Better now.

Good for your 12 year old!

We've brought up all our three to have an understanding that people are different and while we are the 'typical' m + f + 3 kids, there are variations on the theme. Even the 'baby' (that self same 12 year old) knows that it's John + Scott + dogs chez Barrowman/Gill and that's fine.
