Just spent the last hour working surfing and reseraching model railways. O.M.G. there are some major geeks out there.

I don't want Junction X to be The Geek's Gay book (although there are certainly gay men who love model trains, it's far too much of a tiny market for me to aim it at them, sorry, guys) to model trains, just as I didn't want Transgressions to be only of interest to English Civil War buffs. But if I'm going to mention model trains at all (and omg why do i??) then I want to get the details right. [livejournal.com profile] gehayi suggested finding a friendly model train club AND some train spotters (Rail fans I think they call them over the pond) and asking them for help. Damn good idea, say I.

But I really - REALLY - don't want character B to be boringly enthusing over the merits of 0 gauge vs 00 gauge or getting over enthusiatic when The Mallard comes to town, when really, all character A wants to do to character B is stick his hand down his jeans!!

And for those who are paying attention, yes, I was told that Standish was supposed to be being released today. However that's all turned into damp squib-ville by the looks of things. The page on the publishers site hasn't even got the ISBN on yet, let alone the price and links on where to buy it. I would have thought it would have been on Amazon in advance, but No. It's horribly horribly dissapointing and not at all the lovely experience I imagined it will be. I'm sure I'll be happy when it's finally released but really I feel a bit let down. *sniffs*
