RWA shows its class—again
Feb. 4th, 2012 10:38 pmI’m not, nor ever will be, a member of the Romance Writers of America. I’m not American, have no ambitions ever to visit the place again but if I were a member, or even an author who wasn’t a member but happened to be American I would be just as drop-jawed as I am feeling right now.
Why?
Because this little rule has been slipped into the More Than Magic Award – a competition run by Chapter 193 of the RWA – Romance Writers Ink
– Note: MTM will no longer accept same-sex entries in any category.
I picked this up at Heidi Cullinan’s Blog this morning, and I understand there’s been quite a Twitter-fest about it.

I’m not going to pontificate, I think you know how angry I am, and how depressed that writers of same sex romance are being blocked at EVERY turn on all sides.
What you can do: Follow Heidi’s advice and write to RWI and to RWA. Sign the Petition.
They wouldn’t get away with this in the UK, you know. It’s against the LAW. It’s about time that discrimination was against the law in the so-called Country of the free.
