Because Cheese and I have temporarily(?) fallen out.

I mean...Cheese!  It's literally a staple food as far as I am concerned.  I meant to have a baked potato with some double Gloucester in it the other night, and instead I got chatting online, involved in Google Maps and squeeing that I could see [livejournal.com profile] tharain's boat, and he could see my house.  So I forgot to cook anything. As the microwave is dead, doing a potato would have taken an age, so instead I just scoffed the cheese (at 10pm) and went to bed.

Big Mistake. Huge. It's probably a sign that I'm getting older that my constitution can't cope with things any more.  I woke up at 3am with a headache like someone was sticking a needle through my eye, and my joints were agony, my knees (even though I'd been lying down) felt like they were both dislocated and I had a temperature which didn't break till about 2pm. Nice.  I can only ASSUME this was a food induced migraine, but whatever it was it pole-axed me all day, I went back to bed after feeding the cats at 8am and slept for 8 hours.

Blerugh. Not nice.  All gone today though so business as usual!  But, I shall miss my cheese, Gromit!!!

Six years ago all the strangeness I had been experiencing up to that moment was diagnosed as bad IBS and I had to quit dairy, alcohol, fatty foods, and cut my caffeine down to a cup or two of tea a day. (And really? That cup or two of tea sometimes doesn't happen because of what it does to me.)

I thought I'd have to toss myself off a building. It took me four years before I became comfortable eating out again and I still get twitchy if we go to a new restaurant and I wasn't able to review their menu online first.

I miss being able to eat a thick slice of buttery Havarti, a bowl of cottage cheese curds, crumbly lovely soft feta... *drowns in drool* And as a big cheese fan I detest soy substitutes so I've just learned to do without. (Unless I've been a very good girl and I haven't had attacks for a while, then I might order a pizza. Pizza cheese cannot be real cheese because it doesn't affect me every time like a wedge of Stilton does.)

MMMmmmmmmmmozza!
I wonder if that is why pizza cheese is a bit more tolerable? Or if it just isn't real cheese?

Ah well, as long as wheat, onions, and garlic are still a go I'll manfully struggle on! =p

I'd go get checked all the same and cross your fingers it isn't a mold allergy! A coworker had such a bad mold/spore allergy he had to avoid cheese and yeasty goods. I think he could still have feta tho? As it isn't aged really.
{edit: Darn spelling errors!}
