I've just finished a computer game called The Mystery of the Druids and bloody hell I hated every minute of it. I hate a game where I have to cheat and with this one, I had to cheat almost constantly. It's a Point & Click, but sheesh! I don't mind brain scrambling puzzles - I've played Discworld after all, but for gawd's sake give a player some CLUES as to what to do next! The end solution was so arbitary that I would have had to have tried every item in my inventory (about 30) on every single person and object standing around at the end which would have been the equivalent of blind darts. Really not recommended. Really. Not.
I have the best flist, and people are very generous.
I've just started The Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb, and contrary to my expectations (I really didn't enjoy the back blurb, so it just goes to show that even big publishers can cock up in that regard) I'm thoroughly enjoying it. By GUM it's slashy, though. There's Burrich and his obvious utter devotion to Chivalry, and then Chade and Fitz himself. For someone who doesn't approve of fanfiction she writes very slashable characters.

Date: 2008-04-13 02:54 pm (UTC)I'd love a copy, but I'd better not, I'd be gutted if people were sharing copies of my books and I was losing out on the royalties, so I'm going to take the high ground, but thank you for offering.
And no, she really really doesn't. Her rant is down off her site now, but there are plenty of comments still online talking about it. But then, she doesn't approve of blogging either, which she complains about - on her blog!!!

Date: 2008-04-13 03:28 pm (UTC)Actually, I should have thought. I have the recipe for my mom's chocolate cake, which I love, and I could've gone to Kat and David's and baked it yesterday. I would lurve some of that cake today.
And second, friends of mine know Robin Hobb, and say she's a completely nice and low key person. How odd.

I have to say, she has a point. LJ is a siren, luring one to the rocks.
