Congratulations to Lyn Lorenz who won a download of Speak Its Name on the Literary Nymphs and to elisa_rolle who won a goody bag.  Sadly those were the only two entrants, so no-one won a signed copy of Standish, an Erastes pen, or the other goody bag! 

I'm finally writing again - I wrote 2 thousand words yesterday on Frost Fair but I suddenly realised (stupid of me not to realise sooner) that if (when when when....) Transgressions sells well - Perseus are going to turn around and say "OK, what else do you have ready?"  and "er... nothing..." is not exactly the right answer. *smites self* Although Junction X is finished, they are not going to want that, I think - as it's not strictly historical being based in the sixties and it emphatically does not have a HEA.

So if I don't get FF finished, then I can't get on with Fleury, or whatever I'm going to do next.

It was certainly a rip-roaring ride but really - I can't help but think that RTD was guilty of Overkill in a big way (if that's possible) - it just got a bit much for me - Daleks and Davros was quite enough but incorporating just about every character and every device was too too over the top for my taste. I got confused quite early on and never really recovered - did Martha travel in time? I thought the Doctor had disabled Jack's teleport device once before - what was the whole German thing?  I adore Donna, always did and always will - that at least was the best thing of the series for me and the ending with her truly mad me cry.  I utterly loathed and despised how RTD pandered to the Rose/Doctor shippers - I was so over Rose a long time ago and can't see the attraction there at all.

Why did Gwen and Ianto have a Matrix moment and their bullets froze? What did I miss? 

I told you I was confused.  Perhaps I just need to watch it again...

Self-smiting is a bit extreme, don't you think? Make yourself watch four hours of Wimbledon (as if you can avoid it). That should be enough punishment.

I'm glad I wasn't the only person a bit befuddled (and disappointed) by DW. Too much of everything, that first regeneration scene just too quickly done and a bit of a Flash-Gordon-Saturday-morning-type-letdown. And one strand left ignored. The most faithful companion to die forever? Did that obliquely mean the other Dr? Or did RTD just forget?

*g* I'm glad I'm not the only one blindsided by the sudden *omg, follow up book!* thing :) I'm currently thinking that there's a lot left in terms of where I could go with John and Alfie, so a sequel to False Colors might be easiest to do in the time. OTOH, I'm tempted by the idea of doing something really different, just for a palate cleanser.

As for Dr.Who, I was a bit disappointed. Having got all these smart, capable people into place where they could do something, RTD has them all disabled and pulls out another off-the-top-of-his-head deus ex machina. As for Rose, well, I didn't like her much at the end of the second series, but now he has all the laws of the Whoniverse twisted to give her a (cringingly cheesy) happy ending *and she's still whining*? Sheesh. And Micky and Martha are likely to be coming to Torchwood? Martha's great, but I'm not convinced that Micky can actually act at all.

Oh good point about asking first. I'm kind of excited now by the idea of John taking his gay lover to meet his parents (who give 'dysfunctional' a bad name), but I suppose that could always wait for later too :)

I just wish RTD didn't keep cheating with his plots. How many times have the daleks been completely wiped out now?

Please tell me they didn't replace Donna with Rose. Donna was the first companion (female, anyway) I've liked since Sarah Jane (I sort of liked Tegan, but not all the time). Donna's funny and she has great chemistry w/ the Doctor. I was thinking for a little while that maybe they *hadn't* ruined Dr. Who, but if Rose is back...
I loathe her and the blatant, noxious 'shipping. :(

I'm in the same boat with the follow up novel; need to get something I finished a while back edited, but dammit I don't want to sit doing boring edits, I wanna write!!! Waaah.

Haven't seen part 2 of DrWho yet (we taped it as we were out last night) but hubby stayed up late to watch it and has told me he found loads of plot holes too. I'm not a big fan of these 'with one bound he was free' cop-out-y endings and I'm not a big fan of Rose, either.

Well Davros always manages to wriggle out of it somehow, bless him. I liked particularly the way they kept him the same rather than updating him,that made sense - about the only thing that did though!

I was in the same boat. Had to keep asking Son#2 what was going on, and have him hiss 'shhh!' at me in return. Astonishing and schmaltzy end for Rose!! never got the Sarah Jane thing (was never a fan), Martha was hideously under-used, Jack should have kissed the Doctor goodbye as he went off into the sunset, and I personally think Donna was Catherine Tate's finest hour. I do like the way there are references back to previous hints - like DoctorDonna - and the characterisation has been so good, not just for the Doctor as in the past. But my God I was confused *lol*. I probably will watch again tonight.

But wth am I going to watch on TV now? It's about the only thing I ever sit down for *lol*

Hell yes! Heroes and Dr Who. However Heroes will be back in the Autumn. terrible that one spreads one's life out according to the TV.

Looking forward to Bonekickers though - that could be worth a look in a suspend your belief at the door kind of way.
