More cybermen at Christmas? Can't we have new monsters? Or some other old monsters? I'm so bored of the Daleks and Cybermen I could spit.
Good to see the Sarah Jane Adventures coming back though.
I'm getting addicted to Trigun. Why don't they show these animations here? It's bloody infuriating. Just about the only Japanese anime I've seen are classic films like stuff by Hayao Miyazaki and.... Pokemon. The thing is that I quite enjoyed Pokemon, even though it was completely stupid - the scripts were quite funny. But Trigun is something else entirely.
I've just started Jonathan Strange and Mr Norrell and I'm trying to keep an open mind. I've heard good and bad reviews of it, and at the moment I have to admit that it's causing me to work hard just to continue to read it. Exciting it ain't. After that I've got seven books to read and review. eep.
Don't ask me how I got there today, but I ended up at a site which listed the people who managed to escape from the Tower of London. Not a long list. But one of them was "The Unknown Subaltern. 1916. Escaped. Returned."
Cooo!!! Doesn't that get the bunnies jumping?
Talking of yawn, I can't believe I'm so tired. I slept nearly all of yesterday (got up at 9, went back to bed until1500, went to bed at 2200) and I'm tired now!
And finally in this post full of rubbish, thanks to all of you who had good thoughts about Severus. He's back to his normal greedy self, thank goodness!

Date: 2008-07-13 07:09 pm (UTC)I have no idea how far you got with the series but it also takes on a very dark and disturbing twist along the way... many good anime series do that. One of my biggest grudges of the moment is that you still can't get a boxed set of Trigun for a descent price... and also ... I need a good Vash the Stampede figurine for my collection *Lamasu is a dork* ^^;;
And never let elitist anime fans tell you that Pokemon is crap - Team Rocket alone are worth their weight in GOLD... I still think James look good in a dress and Geisha Florist is obviously a masterful disguise... *reminds you that Lamasu is a dork* ^_^.

Date: 2008-07-13 07:11 pm (UTC)I'm only on episode two at the moment... So not very far in but am loving Vash. I loved the comment of the insurance girls in episode one as Vash is dodging bullets (very much NOT in a sexy Matrix way) "He saved our lives... but he is embarrassing to watch."
:D

Date: 2008-07-13 08:42 pm (UTC)But I adored the whole book from the first page to the last - just everything. *happy sigh* But I can see why other people might not love it. *g*
I also loved "The Ladies of Grace Adieu", which features stories in the same world, but with a less longwinded style. If you like the world, you might like that book.

Date: 2008-07-13 08:22 pm (UTC)I've seen so little anime that I couldn't tell good from bad - I don't expect as good art in a series as I'd get in a motion picture - and as I say, I don't know any better.
I'm looking forward to meeting Blackchapel, although I doubt that there's any slash like the fan comic that convinced me to try the series....

Date: 2008-07-13 08:32 pm (UTC)it's like Dune, the first time you read it you're wondering why everyone loves it, and then you finish it and go, ah, that's why
it doesnt' really get good until he raises the girl from the dead and that's well into it.
bear with it, or do what i did, leave it in the bathroom and pick your way through it, then take it downstairs for the last 200 or so pages
the fairy rocks..
I finished imajica, you were right, it was a bit meh.
we do have anime channels on cable, 2 of them, between nine pm and 6am, where they show several different transformers shows, the first ten eps of bleach on repeat, wolfs rain and half of FMA over and over and over again, though cartoon network showed the Big 0, gundam wing and the ghost in the shell series (which is the only one I haven't seen)
but yes, we are a cultural wasteland in some things.

Date: 2008-07-14 12:53 am (UTC)The only way I can see this making any kind of sense is for the Doctor, at some point, to have a light bulb go off and get the aha! that says if the Daleks can keep getting themselves un-deaded, there's no reason not to un-dead the Timelords.
Anime--whatever it is about the stuff, I must be tone-deaf to it. All I see is a bunch of bug-eyed stick children with candy-color hair striking dramatic postures. I know there's got to be more, but like Harrison Ford, it just doesn't do anything for me.

Date: 2008-07-14 11:15 am (UTC)And is it me or is Doctor Who's character more emotional these days? I noticed quite a difference from the moment 'Donna' came to join him. Won't miss her.
