Bitten to pieces. Are there supposed to be mosquitoes in October? One on my cheek, one between one eyebrows, two on my left arm, and others in places I'd rather not discuss and they are swollen to the size of quails eggs. GAH. Next year a mosquito net. For sure. I look like Igor.

I've been procrastinating horribly (big surprise, not) by trawling YouTube for Gay Argentine Tango.  There's something so very sexy about it, neither one has to be the girl, they can both be macho gaucho alphas almost fighting for control.  *fans self*  I wish they'd have it on Strictly, but that's never gonna happen, even if most of the professional male dancers ARE gay.

I've not been around today - got the edits for Frost Fair done and sent off, then UPS arrived with stage two of Transgressions. Erk. And I have hardly dented stage one yet.  Guess what I'm going to be doing tomorrow!!  Not looking for eggses or gay tango dancers. So after I finished the FF edit I just schlomped to the sofa and hid. Plus my left leg is killing me - where I broke it when I was 17. I think the weather is going to be nasty tomorrow.

Off to bed.

Ha! Did I just find a new Ballroom Dancing Soulmate? or what! Gay Tango, I know you probably saw the black and white one, right?

No apologies necessary! I should pretty much be around all day today thanks to the sewage (yay, sewage!) so if you decide you want a break from editing, just let me know.

You don't have spiders in the house, do you? I had a baby spider rappel down from the ceiling right in front of my face a couple of nights ago..escorted her outdoors. If they get lost on human territory, they sometimes bite.

Good luck on the edits!

Billions of spiders. BILLIONS.

When Lili was younger she used to go on Spider Patrol around the house every night and munch anything she found but she's too fat and lazy to bother now. I have them rappel onto my face in the middle of the night too. What fun. But no, we don't have biting spiders here as far as I know - these are definitely mossie bites I can hear them buzzing around the room as I bury myself under the covers!

Have you considered taking antihistamines to deal with the swollen bites? This summer in England I found Boots' Allergy relief Antihistamine tablets [contents chlorphenamine maleate] pretty quickly brought down the hive-type itching and swelling caused (probably) by exposure to plane tree pollen (that I've been exposed to For Evah without previous effect). Your bites might benefit from the help-along. Or if not, you could try calamine lotion, if you're not using it already to soothe the itch.

I'm covered in calamine, but it's not much use. After-Bite is usually the best, but I don't have any in the house right now. I'll try those pills - thanks!

I've got some wonderful stuff that seems to help me with any bites I get - it's good on scratches/rashes/etc as well. Lane's Tea Tree and Witch Hazel cream, from health food shops and occasionally large branches of Tesco as well (in the pharmacy department). We have an Insect That Bites up at the archery club - don't know what, but it's low-flying, as I've only ever had it on my arms when I've been kneeling down for some reason; but the bites come up with a little blister in the middle, surrounded by a raised white-ish bit about an inch across, and a huge red patch about six inches across that feels hard but isn't actually swollen. And they last for ages, too. But the tea-tree stuff seems to soothe them so they don't fester.

If they don't have it, try a good health food shop - I don't think Holland & Barrett stock it (might be worth asking), but I've found it at a couple of independent ones.

After-bite is dilute ammonia--if you have any of that in the house, it does the same thing. 4/1 with water.
