With thanks to abstractrx for this video. M/M dancing is becoming a bit of a passion of mine recently, and I may have to start researching male/male Argentinian tango... being performed in seedy underground clubs where the floor is nothing but dirt - and the men wear black cotton trousers and sweaty vests and nothing else. Where blood, sex and passion is all there is.....

The thing about most m/m Argentinian tangos I've been *cough* researching *cough* recently, is that - and most particularly in this case - is that there's nothing "effeminate" about it - these men are duelling on the dance floor. Look at the section at the beginning particularly, the story seems to be that they are fighting for every inch of control - and around 40 seconds, they are blocking each other.  Just love 'em. None in Norfolk though. *weep*

did you see the argentine tango on strictly the other night? there was some nice m/m dancing and...the girls weren't too bad either with some leg twisting thing going on.

Yes! I was so thrilled when they included the two men dancing together. It was so obvious that everyone knew that it was a tradition, but even when they had the first professional dance of it, with Vincent, Flavia and TWO OTHER MEN - the men still didn't dance together. Hopefully in a few years they might do an entire dance like it - or even have same sex partners....

Isn't it gorgeous - and it really tells a story - like the Strictly judges always say - first they are fighting, then one gets won over and frankly the last 3rd was FILTH.

I can't watch this because of my wretched dial-up connection, but have you ever seen Matthew Bourne's 'Swan Lake', the one with the male swans? There's a pas-de-deux between the Prince and the Swan which is very like a tango. If you haven't seen it, I strongly recommend it. It's on DVD.

Oh yes, I have - I absolutely adore it. I think that was the first male/male dancing I'd seen. Again, with Bourne, there's nothing "sissy" about his dancing, even when the homosexuality is implied.
