I'm guest blogging today over at the Lovely Lisa Bea's blog (try saying that with a mouthful of chips) and wibbling on about book covers.

Come along and bother me. Bother bother.

Weather is gorgeous, perfect March. But it's blustery and the wind is getting in through the catflap which is swinging like a saloon door in a barfight. It's ruddy chilly in here.

I had two collar doves. Now I only seem to have one. This is very sad, they mate for life. *cries* I hope he/she finds another one.

I always wondered if they would let me sketch my own cover, or at least get my artist sister/friend to do it.

That's certainly an option - Tamara Allen took her own cover to the publisher for "Whistling in the Dark" and I had the concept art and idea for the cover of "Standish"

Some publishers will be more receptive than others - obviously people like Ellora's Cave have a certain "brand" (however wrong) that they want to continue with, but the question of the cover can be discussed at least before any contract gets signed.
