Late Easter Egg Hunting
Apr. 14th, 2009 12:06 pmOk – well, back to normal – almost. I’m going to keep an eye on Amazon UK because a lot of rankings are still missing there including mine, but I believe that most of them have been restored to the USA site. The issue appears in the New York Times magazine today, the same article that’s online. Sadly I missed appearing in the article by 3 hours as I took a PC break and missed the interviewer’s email. Never mind! :D It’s sad that they say that the petition was to boycott Amazon, because it really wasn’t. I’m in touch with an Amazon UK rep and she’s supposed to be getting in touch with me by Thursday. The list of Media Links is ENORMOUS
I’m easter eggless this year, so I’m heading for Tescos later in the hopes that they have reduced stock – two garages I went into on Sunday were empty of eggs so I’m miffed. I need chocolate.
I was hit by a massive and (strangely for me) COMPLETE novella/novel bunny while driving home from Dad’s on Sunday – set in the Franco-Prussian war because (drooling)… Horses! And uniform porn!!
I have the entire thing mapped out in my head which is unsettling, normally I just make it up as I write. But is crushed by the idea of the research – it’ll be like Transgressions – I know NOTHING of the era so why my subconscious ambushed me like this, I’ll never know. *kicks it *
Alex Beecroft has a wonderful interview over at The Sweet Flag and she says some really inspiring stuff.
And talking of Inspiring. via Ellen Kushner but found on Facebook and is by Matt Boyd
Ten Reasons why Gay Marriage is WRONG.
1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.
2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.
3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.
4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.
5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Brittany Spears' 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.
6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.
7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.
8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.
9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.
10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans
