A short suck in a bath, hardly counts as play, now does it? And the man so grateful, you’d think I’d done him instead of letting him do me. ‘Course afterwards he wants to talk some, and maybe carry on at  his lodgings, but Fleury’s having none of that. I have one day in the old country before I’m off to the new, and I’m not wasting it in bed, however pretty his eyes were.

Eileen says there’s boxing down at McNally’s at 2, so it’s a swift bit of pork and spuds for me – lets see if I can avoid paying for it…With these new clothes I'm going to walk into the Castle Hotel as if I own it, and see if they chuck me out. They not dare.

And how did the boxing go? I'm not one to object to a little pugilism, but orlando turns his nose up at it. I don't like the heavyweights, though - give me a nice strutting bantam cock of a lightweight to admire.

I think you would have enjoyed it, Mr Jonty, and in fact if I ever work out how this portal works I'd be glad to attend a match with you, if you don't mind being seen with such as meself. There were a couple of bruisers, ugly bracket-faced bastards with broken faces and weight slipped from chest to waist, but the last match was a couple of boys from the university, naked as the day they were born, and lovely to watch. That being said, I was working the charm, so didn't watch as much as I'd like, profit being more important, as it were.

I would certainly have enjoyed those two university gentleman. were fans provided for gentlemen of discretion to cool themselves or did they just stick their heads in a bucket of water?

D'ye know I think that the other gentlemen were there for the violence? I find it baffling myself why the place wasn't stuffed with 'discerning gentlemen' such as meself, (and your good self) but for some reason it seemed to attract the more aggressively male type. Young Ambrose might say they were perhaps over compensating.

As to who won, I'm afraid I didn't stay to see, for I was carrying more than I entered with, and didn't want to draw attention to meself more than I had....
