Possibly the best review I’ve ever had – and it’s for The Snow Queen, the short story I had published in “I Do – an anthology in support of marriage equality”

The reviewer (Indigene on the Phade and Cboy Junkie on LJ was hugely kind and really understood the themes I was going for in the piece.

“I loved this short story in all of its layers and facets – its prose, imagery, symbolism, metaphors, characterisations and dialogue. But above all I loved the honesty and integrity with which Josh’s story is told in all of its melancholy and sorrow because it recognises and affirms that a relationship does not end when someone leaves or dies, and that for the one left behind the process of mourning the separation is as important, intimate and real a part of that relationship as was the reality of union, of being together.”

That's a great review! I liked The Snow Queen - the downbeat ending was perfect; it gave me that little mental shiver you get when you've read something that's jsut right.

But it was so sad. I desperately wanted them to be together, although I realise that not everyone gets a HEA.

"The Snow Queen" is one of the stories from that anthology that really stuck with me; it's gorgeous and evocative and the ending is so bittersweet. It made my chest ache when I first read it.

Congrats on the lovely review!
