Thank you to everyone who expressed an interest in the UK writers’ conference, which might materialise in 2010.  I’ll be starting up a Yahoo Group and a Blog of some sort to discuss the nitty gritty in the next little while. I haven’t heard from the Hall I queried (not a great start!) so I’ll have another look online today.  It may not be big enough…erk.

Thanks also to everyone who helped Gehayi out – she’s got people bringing her equipment and help, so she should be back online any time soon.  I do love the internet and Livejournal in particular, because sometimes the scope of people’s generosity just amazes me.  Gehayi is not an author begging for laptops because she was too damn lazy to get insurance, she’s dependent on the net now for daily life, and even a broken monitor means major disaster.  I mean, I base most of my life online these days, but I CAN walk, and I can drive and I’m lucky enough to have a parent who I can rely on for financial assistance in an emergency.   So, thanks, everyone who helped, or even offered to help. You are all stars.

Very few people in the US are too 'lazy' to get insurance. It's damned near impossible for anyone with chronic health problems to get insurance at all.
