Suffering from yesterday. Legs hurt. ouchie.

I have been spending DAYS researching signal flares. It seems the flare gun was named after E. W. Very who wasn't born until the year that Mere Mortals was set, and the flare itself was invented by an American woman (Coston) a year or so before, so no use at all for my boys. So bugger it, they will have to fire their shotguns instead. *checks shotguns* Bah Historicals! I'm going to write contemps about kittens in future.

Caught up on KINGS, True Blood and (whee!!! so good to have the boys back) Entourage. American TV wins hands down against Brit TV right now, where we appear to be stuck in Variety Land what with Britain's got No Talent, some appalling thing that Graham Norton is doing, and Big Boring Brother.

There is a series on the Pre-Raphelites coming up next week, which I shall be avidly watching, all the pretty pretty young men, Rossetti and his pretty cronies. Rossetti is played by the guy who plays the vampire in Being Human and well worth an ogle.

I don't watch as much TV as it seems, to be honest, I simply watch what I like, Torchwood has been the only thing I've watched on British TV for god knows how long.

Too much distance involved, I think, they are checking all around the edge of Horsey Mere and all the way up Waxham cut. Perhaps I'll not have them signal at all, and they can all just meet up at 3pm as it's getting dark. Hmm. perhaps that's the best idea.

Are novels supposed to make noises like that?
Golly, that looks disgusting.
Almost as bad as mine.

I find this rather amusingly ironic, in that my fiancé and I are constantly complaining about American TV for precisely the same reason! I suspect the difference lies in what's culled for overseas broadcasting. We have just as much Variety Awfulness as the UK does; it just so happens that we're the only ones who are subjected to it. ;)

Also, HBO is a major, major exception, since they're a premium channel for which you need to pay extra. But we love them so much...

I had the first episode of Kings saved somewhere, and I really should find it. It looked absolutely wonderful!

I can't praise Kings enough, it's just fabulous. Yes, the story isn't original, but then which stories are? but it translates into a "modern au" so very perfectly. And the script is to die for imho.

I suppose, because I cherry pick the shows i feel that your TV is better, but of course forget there's unremitting tripe and repeats on for the other 23 hours of the day!!!

I have such a terrifying weakness for modern AUs -- I keep writing modern Shakespeare Histories AUs because they translate so beautifully.

The moment I saw the trailer last year, I knew I wanted to see it, but for some weird reason, the DVR missed the first episode, so I will either have to watch the entire thing online or wait till it's available on DVD. Either way, it looks phenomenal.

::snerk:: I suppose all countries have the same problems with television on a basic level. 90% of everything is crap and all that.

I think you must be getting selected American shows - we've got something like 200 channels of reality garbage - model shows, celebrity biopics, shows that are nothing more than watching annoying people getting into stupid fights, or that are just fly-on-the-wall cameras in boring people's homes. Ick.

Entourage and True Blood are both HBO shows - they make hands down the best TV out there, IMO. Like Kings too, though Robert is the real fan of that one - he never misses it.

Of course. I do that with BBC shows all the time - kind of stupid of me ot forget that it goes both ways. Duh.
