Pretty productive day all in all, no writing yet—I wonder now if I’m putting myself off from finishing the damned thing because I don’t want to hear Running Press tell me they don’t want it, and/or are not continuing with the series, and the thought of having two books to try and sell, Mere Mortals and Junction X fills me with glom as dark as nigt.

However, I have done my edits on the short story Wherever the Risk, updated my website with the new Frost Fair – now available at Cheyenne Publishing (even though typically Samhain hadn’t bothered to take it down from loads of places, even though the contract stated that, but I’m not surprised) and I’ve edited (lightly, I’m no expert) two chapters of Chris Smith’s novel, and one more to go.  Oh! And emailed a partial to a friend in America who is kindly going to post it to an agent for me, as they only take snail mail.

(and been growing virtual crops, tending virtual dragons and playing with kittehs and watching Ugly Betty but then I am Ms Procrastinator Superba.)

Meta Writer has finished its “Back to Basics” workshop and all of the entries have been wonderful.  Just two people chose to spoil it, with bad behaviour. Why is it that some people have lost the ability to DEBATE, rather than saying “I DISAGREE WITH YOUR OPINION SO YOU HAVE INSULTED MEEEE!!”  It’s baffling. The latest post caused me a great deal of amusement as the insulted party defriended the entire community because of one sentence in Lee’s essay.

*BAFFLED*  (but laughing)

OMG U R PRODUCTIVE!!! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE WITH MY E (with whom the streets are paved).

GLOM!!!! Plus, two books means SPREADSHEETS. AND TICKY BOXES!!!

Thanks for all the editing - it's GOOD editing. You pick up on the good things, the things I'd not catch because I'm too close to the story.

As for meta_writer - well, you know, I'm proud of us for the most part. Because no one is standing their screaming, demanding retribution. We're good at leaving it to the original poster, and the mods. And I'm glad.

Fuck the idiots. Plus, as I've said before, note the commonality. I'm not sure it is merely coincidence.

You're not in real trouble unless you run afoul of Mrs. Cake. Or dogs with orange eyebrows.

No, my precognition is not that good, and I don't have a daughter who's a werewolf. Just some adopted ones who stay the same shape.

You obviously did not consider werewolf abilities an important part of your choice of children. Reg Shoe would be very disappointed in you. Trampling on the undead like that!

Though I'm not sure about your precognition. I have a funny feeling about you...

Heehee! Virtual crops. :D *rolls eyes at self* Srsly, where did the whole entire day go?

As for the meta-writer thing, I know a person whom I wouldn't have been surprised at ALL if they had done that. And have in fact done it to people they had been friends with for years. I was more than a little certain it probably wasn't them, but I checked anyway, and of course it wasn't. But still. I just had to check.

I've got the stage when I don't WANT to go up a level. I just got pumpkins and apples and pumpkins take 130 hours! good lord! I can't keep up with it! Who'd have thought virtual veggies could be so stressful?

And they say gardening is a de-stressing activity!

Yeah, you were right about having two accounts. Do NOT keep them both open in seperate tabs at the same time! The new one is developing a lot faster than the first one did though, because I've been using the marketplace to sell all my surplus. It's level three already and I've got half the weeds removed and totally on top of customers. But if I do catch up to the S2 account, I'll probably delete that one and only keep the S1 one. (I hope)
I know the customers won't get impatien or anything, but it's totally stressful when they wave at me.

These virtual crops - do you have a link for it? Not that I need something more that eats my time, but I admit, I am kinda intrigued!

ETA: Because it might help give an impression of what it is, these are my two gardens with everything ready to be harvested. Server 1 and Server 2. And the reason I have two is because I'm an idiot who doesn't know when to stop...

Gotta love LJ drama. [eyeroll] It's crap like this that makes me happy so much of my online interaction is elsewhere these days.

It's longer than you imagine. WHATEVER YOU IMAGINE.

Tis not. It's much shorter than that. How dare you suggest that all pieces of string are longer! You lengthist!

Yes, that was a proper toys thrown from pram strop today wasn't it? People don't half get their knickers in a twist about things sometimes. There are more important things to get wound up about.

I can (almost) understand why she got ratty, she/he seems to be one of these "if you are not X you must be Y and an X hater" type - but to defriend the community over it? Puerile and childish.

I found it ridiculous. Was very pleased at the way Lee handled it. If people can't be bothered to understand "agree to disagree" then they're welcome to go elsewhere.

Well we were shooting for an August 1st release, but there was an itty-bitty delay in getting the galleys approved. But Frost Fair IS finished and approved. It is just working it's way through the distribution process. I expect it will pop up as availble at many online retailers around the end of the week. It's available for pre-order at BarnesandNoble.com. Don't be fooled by the "August 28th" date on B&N, if you preorder it there, it will ship as soon as the title goes live within the next week.

My ear for the English language is such that I'll happily put up with an occasional bum note if the opera as a whole is good. But if one is editing then I suppose, one must be meticulous.

It hink it's lovely how some of the most inventive phrases in the language are those to describe somebody else having a tantrum.
There's some lovely examples here, I completely enjoy reading them!
Missing the entire fiasco that caused the comments is merely a bonus, thank you. My loss on the good writing suggestions, though.
