Sunday at home for a change
Aug. 2nd, 2009 06:40 pmPretty productive day all in all, no writing yet—I wonder now if I’m putting myself off from finishing the damned thing because I don’t want to hear Running Press tell me they don’t want it, and/or are not continuing with the series, and the thought of having two books to try and sell, Mere Mortals and Junction X fills me with glom as dark as nigt.
However, I have done my edits on the short story Wherever the Risk, updated my website with the new Frost Fair – now available at Cheyenne Publishing (even though typically Samhain hadn’t bothered to take it down from loads of places, even though the contract stated that, but I’m not surprised) and I’ve edited (lightly, I’m no expert) two chapters of Chris Smith’s novel, and one more to go. Oh! And emailed a partial to a friend in America who is kindly going to post it to an agent for me, as they only take snail mail.
(and been growing virtual crops, tending virtual dragons and playing with kittehs and watching Ugly Betty but then I am Ms Procrastinator Superba.)
Meta Writer has finished its “Back to Basics” workshop and all of the entries have been wonderful. Just two people chose to spoil it, with bad behaviour. Why is it that some people have lost the ability to DEBATE, rather than saying “I DISAGREE WITH YOUR OPINION SO YOU HAVE INSULTED MEEEE!!” It’s baffling. The latest post caused me a great deal of amusement as the insulted party defriended the entire community because of one sentence in Lee’s essay.
*BAFFLED* (but laughing)

Thanks for all the editing - it's GOOD editing. You pick up on the good things, the things I'd not catch because I'm too close to the story.
As for meta_writer - well, you know, I'm proud of us for the most part. Because no one is standing their screaming, demanding retribution. We're good at leaving it to the original poster, and the mods. And I'm glad.
Fuck the idiots. Plus, as I've said before, note the commonality. I'm not sure it is merely coincidence.

Date: 2009-08-02 06:28 pm (UTC)As for the meta-writer thing, I know a person whom I wouldn't have been surprised at ALL if they had done that. And have in fact done it to people they had been friends with for years. I was more than a little certain it probably wasn't them, but I checked anyway, and of course it wasn't. But still. I just had to check.

Date: 2009-08-02 07:08 pm (UTC)Yeah, you were right about having two accounts. Do NOT keep them both open in seperate tabs at the same time! The new one is developing a lot faster than the first one did though, because I've been using the marketplace to sell all my surplus. It's level three already and I've got half the weeds removed and totally on top of customers. But if I do catch up to the S2 account, I'll probably delete that one and only keep the S1 one. (I hope)
I know the customers won't get impatien or anything, but it's totally stressful when they wave at me.

ETA: Because it might help give an impression of what it is, these are my two gardens with everything ready to be harvested. Server 1 and Server 2. And the reason I have two is because I'm an idiot who doesn't know when to stop...

Date: 2009-08-03 12:04 am (UTC)There's some lovely examples here, I completely enjoy reading them!
Missing the entire fiasco that caused the comments is merely a bonus, thank you. My loss on the good writing suggestions, though.
