Finished the first season of Leverage.  It’s… OK. Chewing gum for the brain. Mission Impossible with pretty people.  I can’t get as involved as I do in others because the characters are so two-D.

Sophie is a whiny nag who I want to push under a bus, Nate – well, having lived with, and known MANY LOTS of Nates--it’s a caricature of a performance and there’s only tiny glimmers of any real acting going on.  The fake accents. ewww. Lyndsey/Elliot is an erratic gorilla – one minute he can take down five guys in the time it takes to drop a bag from shoulder height, another time he gets creamed by one guy.  The only two I like are Parker and wossit. The black tekkie guy.  (And it shows my commitment to the show that I don’t even know his name….)

And why do the English have to be the baddies again?

So yeah. Sticking with it, not loving it. Not hating it.

I’ve posted over at Jessewave’s Blog today about Reviewing. Wot I think.  Possibly a bad idea, but… well… it’s what I think.

I love Leverage, although I agree with you on every single point you make about it. For me, it's kind of a meta-show thing. That's not the right word. Anyway, they are filming in my town this season, and I follow the actors as well as the writers and producers on Twitter, and I see them around town and stuff, so it's almost like Leverage is a show that some of my friends are making.

Parker and Hardison definitely rule the show. It does get a little meatier in its second season, and Sophie's character improves a lot.

Hardison! I adore him, I think that Aldis Hodge does the best acting out of the bunch, aside from Beth (Parker). I was saying to a friend of mine that I didn't know how people could write fanfic of the show, because it doesn't hit my buttons that way - but it is a lot of fun to watch. :D It hits the same sort of spots as CSI, except with more wittiness and it has a touch of a Robin Hood feel to it.

He's certainly running rings around the others in terms of acting. Eliot just seems to grunt-a-lot and please, get rid of that hair!

I'll start on with series 2 this evening.

I love that show, but yeah, it's just an American version of Hustle, really. Parker's probably my fave, followed by Hardison, much like all the other commenters here. And yeah, the show does get a bit meatier in the second season, but you probably have to give a damn about Sophie for one of the season's story arcs. :)

I have to say I prefer Hustle, particularly with Napoleon Solo in the main role! Sophie seems to have improved a bit in series two so far.
