I’ll shortly be taking over the reins of “Bosom Friends” – which is the lesbian sister-site of Speak its Name. (Link of the new site to come)

It’s a genre even more neglected that gay historicals was, and needs a good boot up the arse.

So I’m asking for some help.  If you are a reader of lesbian historical fiction I’d love some reviews to kick off the site as there’s no reviews there yet.  I’d also like some recommendations of books to include as I know nothing much about lesbian historical fiction as yet.  As with Speak Its Name, no paranormals (ghosts are ok) and real history only, not AU.

Here’s the list that exists at the moment – which I’ll be amending and adding to, and including links – but obviously  I know there must be a lot more out there and I need to know about them.

But most importantly I need reviews.  Doesn’t matter if you’ve already posted them elsewhere – I’m happy to republish them for you.

If you are an author or publisher of lesbian historicals, get in touch, either here, or email me on erastes at erastes dot com and let me know.  If you’d like the book reviewed, send me a copy and I’ll find a reviewer and get you some attention.

"doin' the military two-step as in the days of yore..."

Military two-step being a very filthy euphenism. sparing yer blushes, miss.

I wonder how much of the filth Joyce knew about? Or does the filth post date her and come from the song?

LOL I thought it might mean something like Scissor Sisters. Or Gay Gordons.

I listen to too much Julian and Sandy and I see filth in everything. (And boy did they get away with some real smut, because no-one knew what it meant.) People were always reading filth into Joyce Grenfell's stuff. "George, don't do that" was about a little boy picking his nose or something equally innocent. Folks - and a classic example was bible belt America - thought George was doing something much worse...

O/T but it amused me: http://holyroodchronicles.blogspot.com/2009/06/military-two-step.html

I don't mind reviewing f/f. I don't have any reviews stored up, but if you occasionally toss me a book, I'll be happy to review it :)

Thanks - have to wait till I've got some ! I tend to rely on the library a lot for a lot of the older published SIN books. I do have an ex library copy of Night WAtch by Waters - I'll have to be brave and open it...

I'd like to review the Gaslight series by Nene Adams (19th century). There are three so far, with a fourth planned for release this winter. I could review all three separately, or in one round-up, whichever you like.

I've got a copy of 'Moll Cutpurse, Her True History' by Ellen Galford, Firebrand Books, 1985. (Yard sale booty, I think...) I'll review it soon but it probably won't be much before Halloween...

*shamelessly self-promotes*

Loving My Lady (which was actually reviewed by Speak Its Name here http://speakitsname.wordpress.com/2009/01/23/review-loving-my-lady-by-penelope-fridayff/ )

Not sure if it covers short stories as well, but Beautiful Sin was published in Xcite books "Ultimate Sins" - it was writing that two years ago which made me obsessive about Regency lesbian fiction :)

Thank you, Penelope - yes, it will cover all types of fiction in the same way that SIN does - so short stories count - I'll add yours as soon as get access to the blog.

Many thanks!

I wouldn' mind reviewing f/f either. You don't have to be a gay man to review m/m so I don't think I have to be a lesbian to review f/f. For instance I read and enjoyed "Rubyfruit Jungle" though it doesn't qualify as historical.

Mickey Minner writes Old West lesbian stories and is published by your publisher, PD Publishing. I've been meaning to get read her books. Maybe I could review one on Bosom Friends?

I'd be extremely happy Mark - thank you.

Review absolutely anything you like - at the moment there are zero reviews so anything you have read/can read and review would be much appreciated.
