If you live in an older house, it's likely something horrible has happened in there. Doesn't have to be murder.

And OF COURSE I'd live there rent free.

Ghosts are nothing to be scared about. It's the living you have to watch out for.  Specially those neighbours. *shifty*

It would depend on how the specific house felt. And, of course, whether or not the murderer was still at large.

Our previous house, which we loved, had a tragic death in it - the owner's son had driven her to heart failure by his career as a drug dealer. The place was then inhabited by said son and his trashy girlfriend, who had periodic run-ins with the police because of their habit of domestic violence. Not good vibes at all.

When he lost the house to bad debt, a neighbor cleaned it up and rehabbed it, and we bought it and did some more titivating. There actually was a strange cold spot in the bedroom where Mrs X had died -- my dog would stare and growl at one corner.

We had a friend in, a Wiccan priestess, to bless the place. End of problem. And we revived Mrs. X's garden and wished her well. I guess she wasn't a hostile ghost, just anxious and a little confused.

The non-person thing I miss most about moving to Canada is that house. And I really miss the trees.

That was roughly my answer to this question. I love ghost stories, but I'm not particularly worried about them in reality. And rent-free? HELL, YES.

I'd be hesitant to move into a haunted house. I've lived in two, One was benign enough. The other...uh uh. There were bad vibes in the closet and worse ones in the corner at the top of the stairs. The thing in the corner pitched my crawling son down the stairs once. Stairs were carpeted and my roly-poly boy bounced, but my husband broke a toe diving to the rescue.

I would have to see how the place feels. Because three psychics, one of whom is schizophrenic with hallucinations + malign ghosts? not a good combo.

Rent free and the house of my dreams... Let's see, I'm an unemployed and the writing gig just doesn't cover all the bills.

Well, hell yes!

I'd probably try to contact the ghost though. Just to reassure them that I meant no harm.
