Norfolk is between two weather fronts.  The south of England has been deluged with snow, and slightly north ditto.  Here. Not so much.   We probably had half an inch over night. Bah.  I know many of you are moaning about it, but you know how much I love it. On second thoughts, though, I have to be sensible. I do live in a cul-de-sac in the middle of NOWHERE with no back up, so perhaps being cut off with 3 cats is not a good thing to want.

Been editing Mere Mortals this morning as a publisher wants to see a partial. Sent! Fingers crossed!

I had my statement from Public Lending Right today.  Standish was loaned out six times and I earned 38pence.  Woo!  That’s not that bad considering it’s only available in about two libraries in the UK as far as I know.  Hopefully Transgressions will do better in the next year! LOL. I might make a pound!

I really really really dislike Betty Draper in Mad Men.  I know that Don isn’t exactly Mr squeaky clean, but I want to punch her on her cute little nose. Hard. Loved the 3rd series hugely – GREAT ending (please please bring back Salvatore???) and I can’t wait for series 4.

At some point I need to drive to the shop—it’s not dodgy on the road as we haven’t had enough snow for that, but it’s cooooold, and I should take the effort and drive 8 miles to Tescos rather than go to the local village shop and pay over the odds for everything… but it’s cooooold.  Thrilling isn’t it, my life? Not.

Dad seems to be coping a lot better than I gave him credit for – he seems to have taken Aslan’s disappearance really really well – and hasn’t (so far) been panicking about where he is, which I was expecting. Thank goodness.  I’m going over there tomorrow and we are going to see his doctor together – I mean, the doctor knows he’s got Alzheimer’s, and he knows that he’s been living on his own – and they haven’t sent anyone to just pop round and check up on him.  I think he needs at least a regular social worker visit, even if its only once a month or something, but they probably looked at the house and saw how well he was coping and just crossed him off as “managing” but sheesh – he is 81!

Now soup and toast.

Adopt one today! -

Well, 38p is better than a stinkbug in your heating system. And who knows, maybe those readers liked it so much they went out and bought it--I often test-read books at the library.

I hope you get all the snow you and your Dad can deal with. We're just getting an inch or two at a time this year, and it's a welcome change from the shoulder-high snowbanks of last year. You'll have to visit someday, during a real Canadian winter, when the drifts in the backyard require a shovel.

Fingers crossed for MM!

Huzzah! on Mere Mortals and I hope they take it, whoever they are. :)

Bless your dad's heart, but yes - he is 81 and he does need someone looking in on him now and again...

18inches. And counting.

Glad re your dad. And you're right -- want the better half to look into what should be provided by law?

Am coming back to humanity -- today being the first day I did not burst out crying from pain.

xx

Can't hurt to buy somme extra canned food because you just don't know... They predict loads more snow here during the weekend so maybe you will get a portion of it as well. Will keep my fingers crossed!

Yes - I'm going to call in at the supermarket this afternoon and get a load of stuff just in case - we still haven't had much - another half inch overnight, but if we were to get four or six inches, the supermarket delivery service would be inundated.

The weather in the states isn't worth a tinker's darn either. I cleared 4 inches of snow off the van this morning. 2 - 4 more are bearing down upon us for this evening.

Good luck with your dad. Mom was sick for four years. At times it was quite the balancing act.
