I reviewed Alex Beecroft’s amazing Gothic novella “The Wages of Sin” here.

I’m blogging on Clare London’s blog today about optimism and why it’s a good thing to have.

Jessewave has a post about euphemism regarding the anus and how flowery is too flowery and how pooey is too pooey.  As Tracey says – using rosebud for a euphemism really brings the end of Citizen Kane into a new perspective.

We had a bit of snow but it didn’t stick, sadly – the south of england has it bad again, and the midlands and wales and just about every bloody country.

I’m reading a really good (unpublished) gay historical set in Victorian London. I am quite sure it will be snapped up soon, but it’s really really good – and the research is pretty darned fabulous. Can say no more!  :)

I have a few pennies in my paypal account and am looking for gothicky goodness. I need to purchase.

Also need to read that bit on optimism...

I don't know if I can read about ani as I feel I deal with them all day long, lol.

Our snow is all but gone.

*ears perk* Sounds intruiging.

ee - thanks for reminding me!

I have loads of birds right now - which is wonderful - but then they have:

fat balls
peanuts (scattered and in feeders)
suet pellets
meal worms
pastry from soz rolls
old baked potatoes
fruit
seeds
home made lard sticks filled with seeds

No wonder I have burds!

Yes, there is still part of that millionaire's shortbread out there, pork pie from Dave's trip to Leicester, chips from last night plus the usual seed/lardy balls. Not even Mr Robin was about. All I saw was two Blackbirds and a Walter.

I still have prawn toast, spring rolls and a few more chips to put out.

I'm not very good with prawns myself. I can cope with them dipped in coconut/lemon and quickly fried. NOT GOOD IF COLD IN COCKTAILY TYPE STUFF. Yak.

The care bears would get you?

My lolburds are having a nice day, too. I spent £6 on food for them at Sainsburys (who haz a good selection)

We have a flock of long tailed tits, they are like little golf balls on sticks and flash mob the peanut feeders in groups of 15/20. The blue tits get jealous and dive bomb them.

I LOVE the long tailed tits - I've only seen them once here where they mobbed the feeders for about five minutes and then rushed off like a load of hooligans - as you say, like fat pink mice on sticks!

Re the "rosebud" debate --

I'll be happy as long as I never have to read "man-pussy" again
as long as I live.

I can't adequately express my love for the book so far, I love Ira with a passion and the bittersweet relationship he has with Cain, I adore the research you've done, the description of Miller's Court is masterly as a small example. You've made me laugh and stick my fist into my mouth in worry all in five minutes (when Ira gets locked out) which is pretty damned impressive imho.

I canNOT imagine where you are going - pairing wise - with this (or plot wise either actually, as it's so well plotted) but if it's either of the options that's there, I'll be happy either way, while being sorry that the other way didn't work out.
