My father is driving me bonkers.  I printed off some labels which I stuck on to his paperwork folder (which I’ve pretty much gutted, leaving just his bank books etc) saying “Erastes does my paperwork, I do not need to worry about it.” and today he’s rung me four times in the hour I’ve been home asking about his car tax. I said “read the labels on top of the case” and he said “there are no labels there.”

SO HE’S TAKEN THEM OFF!!  gah!  It’s so frustrating.

Aw, bless him. *hugs you both* I know it must be very hard work looking out for your Dad. Sounds like you need a large supply of post-it notes!

We have a lady in atm with Alzheimer's. She's such a doll but it doesn't matter what you say to her she always answers inappropriately but comes over as very happy.

Oh for heaven's sake. Why did he do THAT? He knows he forgets things, so there's no reason to remove the labels at all!

The part that got lost in the deteriorating comm network: FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, DON'T FIDDLE WITH THE PAPERWORK AND UNDO HER WORK!

That's one of the things that drives Alzheimer's caregivers up the wall. Which reminds me, we need to send some kind of baked noms to the gent down the street who's 87 and sole custodian of his Alzheimers-afflicted wife.

Yep. That's said to be one of the ways you can tell between dementia and just age-related forgetfulness - if you know you're gorgetting things and being an eejit then you're still not on the slippery slope.

You have all my sympathy sweetheart - my mum was the same, and her mum before that.
