Woo Hoo! Another Brownie Point for www.writely.com!

You can post to Livejournal on it! Yay! Yes, I know I can do that via email too, but the formatting is impossible to cope with.

Nothing much new with me, RL proving icky, mother has pleurisy, so I have to take her for an x-ray in the morning.

Standish: I heard from the publishers and we are on the downward slope now - the outside editors have now been dispensed with and final decisions will be made by the publisher (in conjunction with me, I hope, don't want her unilaterally to decide that Ambrose must STRIDE about Scratching Himself and roaring at his sisters - I'm guessing that's not allowed....?)

Also got to invent the dedication page, acknowledgements, back cover blurb and a Bio (death to all Bios) which is all very exciting. They say "there's a lot to do, but it will move quickly from now on"

So I still don't know how long it will be, but I'm hoping publication before Christmas! Yay! Buy a copy for your granny for her stocking, you know it'll do her good! I have work colleagues who want to buy it. This Worries Me. a LOT. *checks contract* does "Bringing the firm into disrepute" consist of a sacking offence? Hmmm. Yes. it appears it does. eek!

I'm sure there's more stuff to relate but as my brain feels like porridge right now, I can't think of a single thing to relate.

Ouf. Sorry to hear about Mum. Hope she gets better soon.

Huzzah for Standish's final publication stages! :D

Goddamnit, those two chapters I have are eating away at my brain. I want to read the rest of it. Like, now.

Incidentally, I think it's okay to let Ambrose fart. So long as he does so sensitively. Scratching himself and hollering at his sisters, though, no.

*giggling so hard*

*Pooot*

"La, Ambrose, was that you?"

"I deny it! It is said that he who smelled it, dealt it."

"You are unfair, brother, for it is not somthing that ladies do, it is a base, manly habit"

"Well then," drawled Rafe, letting fly, "how could you imagine that Poncy boy could be capable of it?"

Somehow I imagine Ambrose's gas to go *peet*, being such a sensitive boy. XD

Sorry to hear about your mother. My mom had pleurisy and pnemonia at the same time a few years back and it wasn't very fun.

Yay about Standish! I shall definitely be buying a copy.

Bios...

.... where's the problem with the bios? Do you have one that you've already used and you could change?

I always try to be a little quirky there, and mix informaion, self-pimping and a quirky fact about me. Some is puer fiction (I'm not a goth, but needed a gothy-sounding bio for a goth publication that published my poem (wich wasn't very good, but goths like suffering, I guess). It was hilarious ...

Just hate 'em. No-one really would be interested in anything written by me, I'm dull to the nth degree. They are all pure fiction, but it's hard to not be too over the top. I have loads of them, variations on themes. But I've done one, however stupid it is...

... well, as a reader, I appreciate a little self-irony in a writer's bio. :)

And - you made me curious...

Bio: Erastes lives in Norfolk, UK. If he has any ambition it is to bring homosexual historical romance more into the mainstream. He's had numerous short stories published by Alyson Books, Cleis Press and Starbooks to name a few. He believes in the Great Dark Man and bases his dodgy morality on R.A.Heinlein's Notebooks of Lazarus Long. His website and blog can be found at www.erastes.com

I can't for the life of me figure out why anyone would want Ambrose to be different than he is. He's a good character - he grows and changes in the course of the story, so he isn't strong? Big deal. Do we really have to play to the stereotype of what it means to be masculine? I think not.

I understand about your colleagues. I'm worried about what some of the more prudish people around me will think of Thaw - it's not horribly explicit, but it does have sex in it.

And he's quite stubborn at the beginning which I don't think editor 2 realised. Editor 1 didn't want him changed, so It's only one of ... how many have read it? ten? who think he's wimpy.

He's not wimpy, (I think) he's got a temper, quite a bad one, and as I said, he's quite stubborn and single minded too. He grows up - which is how it should be. *G*

Thanks hun.

And yes, sex - frantic shaggage in a pup tent! Oh no, that's wrong.... there's sex in chilly weather - can't wait to read again.

xxx

I didn't think of him as wimpy at all.

There's sort of frantic non-sodomy in a pup tent, so you're not totally wrong. You'll have your copy as soon as I get it - I'm hoping it will get to you before your birthday, mail gods willing.

And now I want to watch BBM again. I think I'll go buy it today, as I have to go out and get a new toilet seat anyway. (Obviously not at the same store!)

Standish before Christmas?! YAY! Try and time it for around the time when I have the baby, because I will SO need something good to read :D I just did another Amazon search to see if we could buy A Strong and Sudden Thaw yet, but it's not there. Sucky UK Amazon.

I have porridge brain too. I didn't get a rest AGAIN today. *smites stupid busy work and motherhood*

It would SUCK if it comes out after Xmas after all this time, so I really hope that it is before. I'm poised and ready!

You will need to get organised hun, you are going to NEED to get a rest daily, I worry about you.

Going to rest right now (well, going to watch Lost anyway :D). I'll be OK. I'm just trying very hard to convince the bossman that I can still do my job and have a baby so he doesn't fire me, but it's hard work. Oh well. YAY STANDISH! I'll get my dark glasses ready.
