Couldn’t get connected to the net today – but just as well, I think. better to stay offline and stay focussed. I don’t seen the point of “limited access” – i suppose it means that if i DID have a networked system in the house it could do that but no more. POINTLESS.

I put Dad’s tv onto Classic FM and had tried to chill out. I really loathe “The Lark Ascending” though – always have - I don’t know why people think it’s so fabulous—it’s number one in their hall of fame - and Classic FM seem to play it every two minutes. *gets shotgun and blows the bloody lark out of the sky* I quite like Classic FM, but I wish there was something between it and Radio 3—Classic FM is “music everyone knows” like Carnival of the Animals and the dreaded Lark Ascending, and Radio 3 is “music that music buffs know and you, you pleb, wouldn’t understand it.”

Unhappy Horny Hussars continues. The “road” section has ground to a halt so have skipped forward to bits that I want to write. And yes this includes sex. :) I shall worry about how to join them all up later.

However – 2154 words today!  I reached my 1000 word mark, and usually I just pack up, because I’ve been struggling with it, but today I was in a scene where everything was going so nicely I continued on, so I’m happy at the progress!

I have to say, there are worse jobs to have.  Sitting in a sunny conservatory all day, watching the birds, listening to Classic FM and having tea brought to me on a regular basis is pretty damned perfect.  (Dad keeps turning the digi-tv off because he doesn’t get that it’s also a radio, but that’s a minor irritation!)

Watched the final part of Spartacus and I have to admit that it’s now on my list of Must Watches.  There are various reasons why I’m watching it (coughbunsofsteelcough) but also John Hannah just carries the show with  him. There are some great performances, but I must say that the Spartacus actor (who has precisely ONE expression – scowly) wasn’t hired for his acting skill… and it does’t matter, even though he’s probably quite a decent actor, NO-ONE CARES!! I was terribly upset about Vargo though. *bawls * All the ones I like are snuffed in horrible manners. I found myself praying for Crixus, because although he’s not particularly a nice character, the whole Romeo and Juliet thing that’s got going is so touching. Roll on Season 2.

I also watched a quarter of Riverworld, which was hugely dull. Not even the gorgeous Peter Wingfield’s presence could keep me interested. It looks like a cross between The matrix and The Prisoner.

I've got into listening to r3 recently (I decided spending most of my journey to work shouting at r4 was probably not the best thing for mine or anyone else's health) and I'm finding it much better than I expected - since I'm driving it's easy to set the volume so that the talky bits get drowned out by road noise, but I can still hear the music :-) Classic FM annoys me because of the ads (I'm just not a fan of commercial radio).

OTOH I probably have more musical education than a lot of people because I studied it to A level (and it was still a proper A level then, not these wussy 'choose which bits you like studying' so-called-qualifications you get these days!) *deletes rant about how much work it took to get my C grade* So, erm, in conclusion, though I wouldn't class myself as a "music buff" (especially as I'm completely crap at recalling information these days), other people might...

PS There's still some "music" they play which makes me turn off the radio in disgust before I start shouting!

Well if you have seen this show (have you?? HAVE YOU?????) then your mind would never be doing anything BUT wandering....

I did a silly review of sorts back when it first came out, titled: Spartacus, Blood and Buttocks. :)

ah - i missed that. i did like that the gladdies got more toned as it went on - which is what would happened. I felt very sorry for the actors though. too much like hard work. I think that men who are built like that should be forced to wear those nice nappies/diapers. always.

I think men who are built like that should be forced to wear nothing but a pair of VERY low riding, slightly loose blue jeans, held in place only by the top of their pubes, and the first inch of their butt crack...

*mind wanders again*
