OK! I admit it! I watched Robin Hood. When I said I wasn't going to. It wasn't any better, but it's chewing gum for the brain and good to Spork.

The Sherriff is cutting out tongues "on the hour every hour". He uses the term "tick tock tick tock" as the time goes on. There is so much wrong with that, and the medieval's concept of time, that I don't know where to start.

Robin, Much and another I can't be bothered to remember the names of have been captured by bandits and are stripped and bound to trees. I see bare flesh and my interest perks up. Sadly some are only bare to the waist. Robin however is wearing a grey tee shirt and Much appears to be wearing boxer shorts. This does not bode well for the costumes for the remainder of the episode.

John Little is leader of the bandits, neatly sidestepping the classic "you shall not cross this river" and subsequent fight with the quarterstaff.

What is Much wearing? Did he knit that himself? One of my Historical Society likens it to something a New Ager would wear. I can't dissagree. I'm SO looking forward to [livejournal.com profile] rwday seeing this, she's an expert in 12th Century clothing.

Robin hands himself into the Sherriff (too boring to explain why) and Much gets hysterical and rushes off to save him single handed. This was foreshadowing as was the tears in the bathtub in episode one, but I didn't realise the relevance till later. He goes the Slap-Queen Marion (a complete waste of space) who refuses to help. She tells Much that she needs the evening to remove all her make up as make up remover hasn't been invented yet.

Blah blah. Robin gets rescued and we see that Robin will not be killing anyone in this series. Where's the fun in that?

The episode was only saved for me by the very nearly blatent slash text (not subtext) as Much tells Robin why he wanted to rescue him, and Robin says "that's why I love you." He then picks another Merrie Man to head back in the castle to have a quiet word with the Sherriff (who is wearing black silk PYJAMAS!!!!! - WTF???) and Much says "Why did you pick him, and not me? If you love ME?" Later, as the bandits all join together in the Greenwood - Much is telling another MM that he doesn't have any family, wife or children, but he's perfectly happy. One of the Merrie Men was grinning knowingly.

So was I. In fact this is what the BBC site says about Much "He SO doesn't want to be in the forest. And yet, if he wasn't by Robin's side - wherever that may be - we know Much would wither and die."

And Grapes???? What next? Chips?

Bwahahaha! It's so bad, and it's not likely to get any better - but I'll stick with it, I guess. There's sod all else on, and it's fun to take the piss out of.
