The tablet becomes better each day – I’ve downloaded “Meridian” which was a free app to play music and that works perfectly so I’ve ditched the music player that came with it as that didn’t work. I read 50 or so pages in bed last night. Granted the battery life doesn’t last long, but more than enough time to read that many pages and it’s a boon to be able to read in the dark! I used to have a stupid clip on light for paperbacks, which I had to move every time i turned a page. I’m really pleased with it, can you tell?

Did anyone see that Israel’s version of Strictly Come Dancing is allowing same sex couples?  WOO HOO!! I would like this next year please, Brucie.

On a related note: One phrase that REALLY PISSES ME OFF is “openly gay.”

As opposed to what??? What would that sentence read as otherwise?

Gili Shem Tov, the closeted gay presenter of a sports show on Israeli television,

Gili Shem Tov, the should-be-a-lesbian but isn’t presenter of a sports show on Israeli television,

Gili Shem Tov, the openly straight presenter of a sports show on Israeli television,

GRR.

How about Chris Smith, the openly insane, author.

It lacks a certain sanity.

Israel, for all that it is a religious country and has some very conservative lawmakers, is amazingly accepting of same-sex relationships. I asked a friend once about Israel's policy on gay people in the military, and he said that the attitude was more "who cares?" than "don't ask don't tell."

I still haven't figured out why so many prodnoses in America are so emotionally invested in detesting same-sex relationships. It's rather remarkably silly.

(Though I always get the feeling that they're saying to themselves, "I've never had any fun in bed, so you shan't either!")

I bet there's a FUSS if they try and do it in Britain, which is stupid, even though it's legal, and one is not allowed to discriminate or produce any anti-feeling. I think they are just Not Mentioning It and hoping that it doesn't come up. But I think that about 50 percent of the male professionals are gay, so if they get a gay male celebrity dancer, I hope he puts his foot down, forgive the pun. It would be worth it just to see Len's face.
