Watched “Inception” last night – and really I think my reaction was “meh.” It was all incredibly predictable – although I probably watch far too much spec fic so I’m rather jaded – the ending was “oh right, like I didn’t see THAT coming.” When I came out of The Matrix my mind was entirely blown with the whole “this could be REAL” idea, but Inception didn’t do that – and from the interviews I’ve seen on line wasn’t really supposed to be –the guy who created it said that he’d nicked the ideas from just about everywhere, after all.
HOWEVER, it did blow my mind in the second half, when they start the mission proper because of the effects, Joseph Gordon-Levitt (what a bloody STAR he is, and is going to be, he’s the Ledger to be, i think) and Tom Hardy. Both Hardy and Leavitt blew DiCaprio away acting wise. Highly enjoyable, and I’d like to have seen it on the big screen, but not the mind-bending experience that I thought it might be.
Then I watched Repo Men, or at least half of it, and OMG what a VERY unpleasant film. It’s obviously meant to be, but I think it could still have been so without the level of shock/gore that is in it.
MRI didn’t happen, sigh. which was no surprise. There will be a massive complaint letter winging its way to the NHS tomorrow.
