Not quite 60k
Dec. 3rd, 2010 07:09 pmBut I did my 1000 words. Had to take Dad to the docs, then it was a very late breakfast and a late lunch, so didn’t even get writing until 3pm. But words done. 60k tomorow for def.
North Walsham was covered in snow! Here’s Dad’s road and garden. We only had a sprinkle here. Poor birds.
ok – only about six inches, but where’s the pavement?
I just read a book for review on TLA and it’s… all right but everyone is SO NICE. The protags are nice, the father is nice, the woman is nice, even the homophobe turns nice. So far there’s only bit the smallest bit of conflict and that lasted about half a page. I’m hoping that there’s a bit more conflict in the last 20 pages because otherwise i shall die of sugar intake. I dare say most people who like romances will love it, but it’s TOO NICE for me. I like my men to be a bit more realistic and have shades. No-one’s that nice.

Date: 2010-12-04 08:20 am (UTC)I mean, I understand the problem, writers get to love their characters and don't want to show them in a bad light - I suppose I've never had that problem, in the main my characters have a healthy streak of something, selfishness, arrogance, pride, immorality....
Nice is boring! :D

Date: 2010-12-04 08:38 am (UTC)My protagonist has a healthy level of suspicion towards all the niceness around her anyway. All these simple country folk that are being nice to her are blatantly in league with the local landed gentry to cover up what really happened to Julia!
