Eye Eye Eye!!!
Jan. 9th, 2011 04:02 pmmy eyesight is "almost" better. I've been operating without the occlusion full-time for about a week now, and although if I let my eyes relax I have double vision, if I focus I can push them back together again. I think it must be the glasses (which are vari-focals and I've never got on with them) to a greater degree, because if I use my eyes without the glasses there is no double vision at all (obviously blurry, because I have short sight) but when I look through the top of the glasses the double vision is there and I have to force my eyes to work together. I will point this out next week—although I doubt they'll care.
I got a letter yesterday saying that as I was too fat for the MRI scanner at the James Paget Hospital Trust, they had made enquiries as to whether there were any "open" type scanners that I could use. Apparently not. There are no open scanners ANYWHERE in the NHS according to the letter; a few in private clinics in London, but not ones that can be used by the Trust. GOBSMACKED.
So, what they are saying is NO FAT PEOPLE can have MRIs anywhere in England. That's nice. And not at all sizist. I suppose they consider that if they do get brain tumours it just helps lower the population. I mean – I'm big, I know that – but I'm not the fattest person in Britain!
God knows what happened to the idea of sending me to Newmarket to use the horse MRI. Perhaps that was a JOKE. Or perhaps I'm too big for that, too. I will be writing to the NHS directly now, because the eye clinic entirely ignored my last letter of complaint.
In other non-writing news:
Fable, my husband in the game (same sex marriage) asked me to go to bed with him, and amusingly the screen went black and my husband exclaimed that whatever I was doing to him was "rather nice." LOL! He's embarrassingly in love with my character, which is sad because i'm going to have to murder him soon.
Teeth: Gum infection still making me look like Hammy the Hamster (bonus points for anyone who names the show he was on, and double points if you can name other characters without Googling) but is less today – I'll make an appointment with the dentist next week. Stupid to be finally eligible for free dental care and not to get it all done. The only thing that concerns me is the Warfarin, but I've only had one bleed that lasted more than a few minutes, so perhaps it will be all right.
