as I haven't been keeping up to date recently.

1. eyes – not bad. still managing  - the edges are a bit wobbly.

2. TANGLED – brilliant!  I loved it, why was no one raving about it?

3. THE KING'S SPEECH, very good indeed, even with the horrid Firth. Thought the end speech over-music was an odd choice, though.

4. SPARTACUS: GODS OF THE ARENA. Nom nom nom.

5. Mere Mortals edits going well, I'm going to have to print it out though, and go through it in hard copy. There's a lot I know I've missed.  Heard from the editor regarding Muffled Drum, the second round of edits are going to be sent back to me tomorrow!  argh!  I mean, I am pleased that things are moving along, but I haven't written anything new and it's FEBRUARY TOMORROW! ARGH!

6. Lucius is watching "Episodes" – he doesn't normally watch anything wordy. He likes action films or dog trialing. This is a bit clever for cats.

7. Reading Tongues of Serpents by Naomi Novik. It's a bit dull so far, to be honest.

8. think that's it.

Geoffrey Rush is wonderful in The King's Speech, and Guy Pearce just nails Edward VIII, however, I wasn't so keen on Timothy Spall's somewhat caricatured Churchill. I do like Colin Firth, though, and thought he did a marvelous job (speaking as someone who used to stutter terribly). I didn't think I would enjoy the film, to be honest, too close to home (see above), yet it surprised me. Nice to see Jennifer Ehle again, too, with Colin Firth.

I am LOVING Gods of the Arena, though not sold yet on Gannicus, neither do I like hairy Crixus. They are bringing out the back-story for characters we know really well, while swiftly making new ones easy to care about and enjoy. John Hannah & Lucy Lawless are delightful together.

I agree with you on all points - I just don't get the Firth Lurve - I don't find him gorgeous like so many of my friends do.

I assume Gannicus will be getting a gruesome end at some point! Roll on the Crixus haircut.

I've *very* much wanted to see "Tangled." It also wasn't nominated for an Oscar. But this was, from what I gather, an unusually myopic year for the Academy. Notice I say "unusually". They're always myopic (when they're not just blatantly on the take).

I highly highly recommend Tangled - it's hilarious (I rarely LOL at a film, but did several times) and the horse and the "thugs" are priceless, and the songs are excellent.Best thing since the Lion King and not so po-faced.

Did I just see the word "horrid" next to the word "Firth"? My eyes must be failing... :P

I just don't like him. He always plays the same part, and doesn't convince me. I don't find him at all hot, either, so it's a case of Emperor's New Clothes for me.

Point about the same part granted...but to each their own. :)

Puss is home again and looks lovely all curled up in his little sleeping kitty casket. It was quite expensive but it's worth it to have him back with us.

I'll send a pic. It's not morbid or nothing. A wooden, curled up kitty.
