Game of Thrones #2 The Kingsroad
Apr. 26th, 2011 08:51 amI'm going to stop watching clips... because I had seen almost all of this in the clips, and only a few scenes delighted me anew.
the extra scenes irritated me, because I couldn't see the point of them—i'm not saying I didn't enjoy them, but some points had already been made, such as Jaime and Jon or was going to be made. I didn't like how Dany seemed all whiny and mopey instead of being the Blood of the Dragon. however it's heading in the right direction now.
What I loved was the Hound. He's absolutely perfect, and I am so looking forward to seeing all his scenes. and the Wall – just wow.
Poor Lady, stupid isn't it how someone who knows the books so well STILL wants Lady to be spared?

Date: 2011-04-26 11:08 am (UTC)I think part of the problem is that a lot of the Dani chapters are internal - her memories, her thoughts. That's hard to get at in a 5 minute scene. They should have had her quietly saying to herself 'I am the Blood of the Dragon' during the wedding feast or at other stressful events, so we see her shoring herself up and understand that she's strong deep down. Anything so she doesn't come across as a total victim, which is how my husband, who hasn't read the books, thinks of her. I'm hoping they're moving in the right direction now, as you say, but that's the one part of the series I haven't been happy with.
And I really, REALLY hated the consummation. In the book, Drogo is a lot gentler and more patient. Here, he comes off as a total brute and rapist.
/rant. Sorry.

Date: 2011-04-26 06:09 pm (UTC)but he's on the show, and the actor is ugly, he's got bad skin and he's supposed to be like super gorgeous, and the character is such a whiny petty spoiled shite and I'd forgotten that
and sansa's "youre both ruining it" because she was what was important, oh well, she learned the disadvantage of lying didn't she
I like Khal Drogo in the books, I really did and I can't remember why, it's been such a long time since I read the first one
Viserys is probably the reason.
what I'm finding though is it's hard to tell certain characters apart simply because the plot is whizzing by so fast that I don't know who's who, for example Jon and Rob and Theon (no one has actually spoken to Theon and he's SO important) or the Hound and Benjin, unless I see the scar I'm it's one of them.
I suspected that Lena Headey would be a fantastic cersei, because well she was a fantastic Queen Gorgo and a fantastic Sarah Connor and she is stunningly beautiful so....
I wanna see the dragons as much as Dany does

Date: 2011-04-26 10:38 pm (UTC)I must admit, Dany is my least favourite main character in the books, so I am hoping Emilia Clarke works some kind of magic and makes me care. OTOH I Love Ser Jorah as played by Iain Glen.
That Jaime & Jon scene was a bit confusing, though I appreciate they needed to show Jaime doing something. Poor Jon seemed as mystified as the viewers, bless.
