Another lovely sunny day. It's seriously dry here. When did last get any rain? Six weeks? Eight weeks? I can't remember.

I have sent the revamped version of "Chiaroscuro" off to the agent for him to send off to Carina, so fingers crossed on that. I've added some new sections and rewritten in general and it's better for the extra 7k or so words I've put in. If they don't want it, I'll probably put it up for a free read on the website.

There's a new romance convention that I found entirely by accident this morning, via the Norfolk Libraries Twitter feed. Called Festival of Romance it takes place in Watford on 10th and 11th October 2011.

I'm going, as are several other writers of GLBT authors and because we've contacted them early they say they are happy to accommodate a GLBT panel of some sort. This is great news for the genre so I hope some of you can come.

Here's the site and all the details.

and the forum

Looks well organised and inclusive, so I'm looking forward to it.

How do you cope with such weather? We start to worry when we don't see rain for a week!

Also, much thanks for the heads-up about the romance festival, I'll check out the info :-)

Had a look at their site. Travel wouldn't be a problem, but I went "ouch!" when I saw the ticket prices... much prefer the [livejournal.com profile] uk_meet approach!

I'm thinking of maybe coming one day, but I still need to justify it to myself... there's a couple of anthologies I'm thinking of submitting to, so maybe if I can get my stuff together enough to submit something good to them, I can consider myself properly committed enough? Given it only costs £40 for two of us to go to the Royal Welsh...

Yeah - having done the research I wonder why people charge this much, someone is pocketing it,I think! I'm only goingforthe day £55 which is strong enough as it is. doesn't seem to be any discount for early booking either. But it's coming out of my Junction x money. juggle juggle

I guess it depends on how many freebies/goodies we get - someone's got to pay for them somewhere along the line!

Well, we've had nothing but rain every sodding day for about a month now, ever since they started talking about water shortages when heath fires were raging after Easter, on Monday we had gale force winds, with trees down all over, and hail. It's COLD so I had to put our heating back on! Enjoy your warm, dry weather.

It's mainly the cost that's putting me off booking at the moment. Not sure what we're getting for that money, considering a similar cost to their day price gets me a full weekend's SF convention.

I agree it's blooming expensive--i can only afford one day (can't really afford that!!) i kind of jumped the gun without a schedule. but i'll give it a go and report back!

Hardly any rain here until this week...heavy off and on. I've had a lovely time watching the birds come and go from the table outside the window. So comical...I bet I am too if anyone could hear me talking to them. With Puss gone, they are ALL my babies now. I was going to try a walk again this afternoon but knowing me it'll pee down on me and the speed I'm going at atm I'll be soaked so I'm watching The Enemy Below.

I've had an idea for the ending of one of my short stories. (the end was very lame). I just wish I had enough dynamite to stick up my huge ASStronomical laziness.

How's Dad, cats and birds?

Dad is fine at the mo, he doesn't keep on about moving or going into a home, but he has put a lot of weight on and there's nothing much i can do about it because he just eats everything in the fridge! however, he's 82 so i'm not going to panic... cats all fine, even though i hardly see them now the weather is nice. birds are wonderful, lots of baby sparrows and blackbirds--probably others, we know the bluetits are nesting in the birdbox but of course we don't see the babies.
