The first rule of Erastes Club is , you do not talk about Erastes Club

Which movie was this quote from?

Erastes Club is held in the centre of 1820's London. It's not illegal, but it is frowned upon by .. just about everyone. Even the Hellfire Club doesn't get it.

To join is difficult. You have to be good at fighting, but also good at writing, so being a namby pamby girly type poet with a pretty face just won't cut it. You need to also be able to strip off to your breeches and hessian boots and beat the shit out of other writers. They will probably be shaggage afterwards, and Erastes and various other writers such as [livejournal.com profile] rwday, [livejournal.com profile] gehayi and [livejournal.com profile] evremonde and [livejournal.com profile] dubaiyan (to name a few) will sit around and take notes....

Send a tape of your fisticuffs - and a sonnet, to Erastes....

Shelley won't cut it, but Byron will. Can I just pay them both to shag each other blind for, you know, research notes and stuff?

I'd rather like to see Bryon beat Shelley, I'm sure he could try hard, if he was given the motivation? Surely a nice shag would stiffen his... resolve?

Hmm. I wouldn't be surprised if Byron has beaten Shelley, so long as S was nicely tied down to the bedposts with a few lovely multipurpose cravats. >:)

I know it before read the answer (without the erastes of course)... Brad Pitt is a beautiful sight! But I prefer him in that film of Guy Ritchie... I don't remember the title, but he played the role of a gypsy.

I can't send you anything, I'm not a writer... ciao, elisa

Brad Pitt wouldn't be allowed to join Erastes Club, that's for sure!

I don't think BP writes fiction

It's a joke! Probably BP doesn't write at all (ops now maybe I'm a little bad, ppor boy). But you know, someone says when you are pretty you don't have to talk (or write)... One moment! That's why I speak so much? ciao, elisa

Oh yes, there would be. It would be like "it's a knockout" with rounds of fisticuffs, poetry, prose and shagging.

With points given.

My mind keeps refusing to process the part after 'beat' as anything other than 'beat off other writers'.

Good point. I should change it...

When in the broad course of composition
The brain grows weary and must respite find
In manner easy and, lazy, loose the mind
To lower standards and lesser ambition—
Why, tis moot then to embrace perdition,
Seek out those sundry others of like kind
Who, though in other aspect are refined
Willingly discard cultured condition.
Engage we then in tempestuous ire;
Embattled and embittered we affray
And thus to each and other grant release
From wretched and unwholesome, bilious fire
That, warlike, makes us wretches. Thus we may
In small measure meet perfection, and peace.

Very impressive. I shall ask Coleridge and Byron to strip off just for you.
